What Is This?
This is a new bug found from preliminary reports from the Asian region. As of March 18th, 2021 Spinning Crane Kick was found to not benefit from mastery.
How Do We Know?
We can test on a target dummy by using Tiger Palm > Tiger Palm > Spinning Crane Kick > Spinning Crane Kick while maintaining 1 Mark of the Crane stack Then we compare the two Spinning Crane Kicks, and we see that they produce the same numbers (within 5% spell variance). This mathematically shows that Spinning Crane Kick is not benefitting from mastery.
What Caused This?
Spaghetti code, as usual. We all know that the World of Warcraft code is a jumbled mess of who knows what. What we do know is that it is somehow linked to BFA’s DoCJ azerite trait (Dance of Chi-Ji) being fixed for old content since it was doing insane damage for some reason. After that got fixed, it broke the mastery for current Spinning Crane Kick.
What Should Blizzard Do?
They should, of course, fix the bug. We are so appreciative of the responsiveness of windwalker bugfixes so far in Shadowlands 9.0.5, and we want to keep that going. Whatever we can do to support you let us know and we can help your Software Engineers fix these bugs quickly without using too much of your limited time. We understand you are stretched thin as engineers and we are always grateful when you fix, especially major, bugs in a timely manner. Keep up the good work so we can keep the good relationship with the community in addressing these issues. You’re doing a good job recently and we want to keep that going as I can speak for most from the Monk community that these bug fixes have been feeling absolutely amazing to receive.
