Mannoroth returning?

So one of the items that can be obtainted in the Legion Remix is Mannoroth’s Shield. This makes me wonder if it could be a subtle hint at Mannoroth returning.

I rather like the idea of the Pit Lord coming back and a quest chain with the Orcs putting an end to him permanently.

I wouldnt put too much thought into it considering we are getting Varian’s fel corrupted sword but who knows.

On one hand, I really would like Archimonde and Mannoroth to emerge as surviving leadership for what is left of the Legion. I think Warcraft would benefit from clawing back some of the elements we’ve been systematically deleting.

On the other hand, they’ve been absolute pushovers lacking the grandiosity of WC3’s depictions. They would likely be dungeon bosses at this point if we follow the usual model.

Only reason to bring back Mannoroth is if they also bring back Grom to stick an axe in his head a third time.

“Why does this keep happening!?”

That’s a good point.

I seriously doubt there’s any lore behind weapon cosmetics from Remix.

Although it would be cool if impractical to give remix characters different artifact weapons because the real ones are being held by the owners and we get weaponry equivalent to 4th, 5th, and 6th strongest weapons to support the original artifact weapon holders

…Mannoroth wails as he holds his head trying to hold himself together long enough for the magic to repair the damage again…

Lol, loved the visual your words filled my mind with. Thanks, been lacking in laughter these days.

Gorehowl just reacting to Mannorath being summoned like a Bootarang/Mjolnir straight to his skull for no other sake than Groms defiance.

Where is Gorehowl anyway?

It was last seen discarded in the Vault of Y’Shaarj.

Obviously, clearly, canonically I am wielding both the MU and AU Gorehowls.

Slight side note to anyone who decides to transmog that shield. I hope you realize it was what Mannaroth was wearing on his crotch area. So better wash that good and hard, unless you are in to that.

Oh my goodness!!!

I view one hidden reply and Zerde unintentionally says the funniest thing I’ve read all day!!

Well done, Zerde. Even if unintended, well done.

I think it’s because of the (theory? outright canon? I can’t remember) that the boss Goroth from Tomb of Sargeras was Mannoroth.

I never heard that theory before.

The only part of it I remember involved his dungeon journal description:

As punishment for past failures Goroth’s flesh is marred with searing wounds. With every movement this behemoth makes, his flesh crackles and hisses with unending torment, a scourge he is happy to inflict upon those who oppose him.

No idea if there was any more to it than that or not.

I mean mannaroth is a centaur so its not necessarily where his richard is

Technically Mannaroth has already being a dungeon boss :stuck_out_tongue:

But we only defeated him due to Varo’thens sword stabbing him, Illidans help and the fact that he was distracted keeping the portal active.

But yeah, Archimonde has already being a raid boss twice, Mannoroth a dungeon and raid boss as well. Hell Mannoroths raid encounter begins with him being in a weakened state and gets stronger as the fight progresses due to Gul’dan.

Maybe. Legion established what it takes to perma-kill a demon (in the Twisting Nether, a planet highly saturated with Fel, smashing their soulstone or Light overcharge). None of that happened to Mannoroth, so he could return.

Also, in the Dragonflight quest chain to unlock Eredar customization, it’s mentioned the Legion has collapsed into violent infighting as the remaining demons are focused on gaining followers and establishing powerbases, only to get knocked over and permanently killed by their rivals. So, it’s unlikely that the Legion will ever be the cosmos-threatening army they used to be, even if one particularly strong demon does eventually unify them again.

Mannoroth is one of, if not the most powerful, demons of the Burning Legion still alive. He could be their new overall leader, as few of the remaining demons could match him (Perhaps Tichondrius. He’s also still around, but given his connection to Denathrius, I’m not sure if I should count him. Unless he plans to appropriate the Legion remnants for Denathrius… but that’s a discussion worthy of its own thread).

tl;dr, Mannorth could come back, I hope he does and gets a better showing as a villain before we kill him again.
