Man'ari again

seriously how does man’ari playable make sense?
there were rogue demons before like varimathras but never redeemed demons. Even kil’jaedan questioned the mission but still, all demons sought power and were evil even when they went rogue.
Blizz really expects me to believe there were these demons secretly wanting to be good guys?

I’m pretty sure WoW has taken the stance of everyone can be redeemed/at least everyone can go on the path of redemption. So yeah, people just have to accept it.

It’s just something that players kept asking for and Blizzard finally gave in. The lore behind it is super flimsy because it’s a gameplay first decision.

It’s unfortunately probably going to be an annoyance every time draenei get screen time now for the rest of WoW’s lifespan.

As someone who believes in redemption, it isn’t about whether you “didn’t want to be evil”. It’s about coming to an understanding of how what you did was wrong.

And the Draenei were at a cross roads and needed a new direction. Not sure that would have been my first choice. But there is nothing, IMO, wrong with it.

“A race of formerly-spiritual and peaceful people were manipulated by the Burning Legion through a propaganda campaign of fear against the unknown, and ultimately corrupted by the power of the Fel through a bargain made by their leaders, the greed and ambition of the few dooming the entire race. However, through the effort and atonement of some survivors, they were able to reclaim a portion of their ancient faith and pride, and now strive to redeem themselves, even though they constantly bear the mark of their corruption, a permanent symbol of their mistakes.”

Now where have I seen this story before, hmmm…

I’m still waiting for the explanation for the Sand Troll skin. Thought I recall that tribe hated the horde. :hourglass::robot:

The Man’ari joining the Alliance and immediately getting the usual suspects switching their tune and calling them redeemed goodboys is hilarious

Realistically the horde should be getting all sorts of random one-off troll volunteers now that the Zandalari are allied.

Plus sub-tribes can always have their own direction, look at the Revantusk vs the greater Amani tribe.

It’s quite possible that a single man’ari has commited more evil than the horde and all of the horde offshoots.

Whoever made this boneheaded decision might work closely with whoever made the alliance darkfallen boneheaded decision.

Have you actually played the quest?

It’s really not that complicated a story. The Man’ari were fooled by Sargeras; they always were. Some didn’t realize until it was too late, and their choices were follow orders or die. Self preservation and cowardice caused them to follow orders.

Now all the leadership is dead. Those doubting Man’ari are looking for a new future. They come begging for help and offer a sign of peace. Velen gives them a chance.

It’s not erasing all the terrible things they did. But it is offering a chance at redemption and giving players something they want.

Yeah, it’s flimsy but it’s also pretty unimportant overall. There are still evil Man’ari. There are just some reformed Man’ari.

If you do the heritage questline, it even expands further.

The repentants or whatever they are called, is a very small group of man’ari, and even smaller is the group that is in azeroth, the majority is on Argus, and their actions are heavily supervised.

This isn’t total redemption yet, this is Parole.

Well I see it as: “One step closer for the Nathrezim Dreadlord Race Class Combo to be playable”

They did that with Drakthyr and Evokers race exclusive combo and we already have one Nathrezim turn to the light (supposably until Blizz decides to confirm it a true or not)
So we can assume that some classes are “race restricted” unless Demon Hunter eats their Souls or their souls are fuse, then we might see Dreadlord as a hero spec or just a normal spec for the Class of DH (IMO). (if its a Demon, or souls get stuck together like in Legion with that Dread Lord)

Joking to the side I think it’s safe to say that… the Lore is what Blizz needs it to be for their storytelling much like how Comics protagonist is as powerful or weak as is written, depending on the writer assigned to do by their Boss. (IMO)

Sand Troll skin (Farraki) but don’t forget Dark Troll skin too.

Are people allowed to redeem themselves or not? Which is it.

They’re playable the same way that former members of the Scourge are playable, or the
“Demonic” Orcs who willingly and gleefully chugged Mannaroth’s blood for power are playable.

Plus out of an entire planet of no doubt billions - Im sure there were at least a handful of Eredar that were forced against their will to become Man’ari, or some that regained enough sense of their original self that they felt regret for what they were forced to do.

Some things are irredeemable.

NOTHING is “irredeemable” if you genuinely feel guilty, repent, and embrace a higher spirutality. Redemption has to be earned, but anyone can earn it.

The Man’ari genuinely want to repent, and so they are going through a redemption arc.

The fel orcs are just brutes with not a single thought in their head, and so they will never get a redemption arc.

Not really that complicated to understand.

Not everyone is worthy of redemption or working towards it

There are limits

This is completely and utterly wrong.

No. It’s not. Not everyone deserves it

Intergalactic omnicide is definitely irredeemable.
