I ran into this randomly after lowering graphics settings to help with framerate - my NVIDIA graphics driver (version 536.67) kept spontaneously crashing and reloading (most notably on Forgeweaver Araz), and I later noticed in the outdoor area with Soul Hunters and Fractillus that parts of the sky were glitching (see screenshots below).
This seems related to Manaforge Omega GPU Crash and I was able to fix it by disabling Optional GPU Features at first, but this wasn’t good enough for me as that also disables MSAA.
After some experimentation, it looks to me like an async compute issue triggered by the following combination of settings:
Graphics API: DirectX 12
Shadow Quality: Low
Compute Effects: Good, High or Ultra
Disabling Multithreaded Rendering as well would cause the glitch effect to flicker.
Other than switching from DX12 to DX11 or disabling Optional GPU Features, I was also able to fix this by either setting Shadow Quality to anything other than Low, or setting Compute Effects to either Disabled or Low.
I suspect what happens when switching from DX12 to DX11 or disabling Optional GPU Features is that this also disables async compute, though I’m not really sure why setting Compute Effects to Low would fix it too.
Hope this helps others running into the same issue, game version is 11.2.5.64154.
