Mana Management

How do the three Horde healing classes compare as far as mana management in both leveling and at 60?

Just get MP+5 and you’re golden.

Get a druid buddy who follows you around to cast innervate.

I believe Priest is the most mana efficient while leveling since you can Power Word: Shield + Mind Blast + Shadow Word: Pain + Wand mob to death. You can skip the first two and just use Shadow Word: Pain when mana gets low and regen back to 100% and start over.

Too bad she isn’t playing Allaince and be a Paladin. As she would just say “What is mana?”

It’s the only healing spec/class I don’t much like. Go figure!

You’ll have to be more specific when you say mana management.

Are you asking which class has the best active mana regen? Which class can keep up a healing rotation longest? Which class has the most efficient damage spells? Etc.

There’s a lot of potential information here that could adjust your opinion!

Despite saying that, though, I will say that priest has the most traditional mana management model of the Horde healers, followed by druid, and finally shaman. Shaman relies mostly on mp5, while priest and druid rely in large part on spirit and use of the 5 second rule.

Don’t know how to compare them but shamans learn mana stream and that is usually very beneficial while doing quests and they can empower their melee attacks which saves mana.
Priest have wands which don’t use any regents and are probably the best mana management out of other classes because bear form costs mana cat form cast mana and can be costly.

1 priest
2 shaman
3 druid
I’ll rank them the least complex to most complex when managing mana when leveling.

Wands>relic slots or so i think in classic. In tbc there was not many and in wrath relics of all classes started to shine a lot more until they removed them.

At level 60
1 priest have healing abilities for every situation or almost, and a buff in disc tree that gives spirit to you and others increasing overall mana management and talents that lower mana costs, have a healing form when killed in holy tree and can down rank like druid.
2 druids cast low rank healing touch most of the time and has innervate baseline.
3 shaman more expensive heals and chain heal you probably would start to lose out on mana managing, 2 mana totems one a talent and one a not, and seeing how shaman totems don’t benefit everyone around you just your group might be worse in raids then pally and priest mana buffs.

Sustainable healing, mana regen during long fights, premium mana efficiency.

Last two posters - excellent feedback!!

Druids have the most mana efficient single target healing spell. (Healing Touch)

Shaman are definitely the worst when it comes to mana efficiency. It makes up for it in other ways, but I’d suggest another healer if mana issues bother you.

Priests.

They get a passive that lets them regen their Mana while casting and there t1 3 pc is the same passive as a set bonus and they stack.

In a 5man, shaman is best (totems), druid is 2nd (innervate), priest is worst. But when you’re in raids, you’re grouped with shamans for the totems regardless, so they lose their edge. Priest with totems end up becoming best in the long run. Once you’re decent enough geared with totems, you don’t need innervate, so druids lose the only thing they have going for them.

You’ll see all this with the population numbers. Shaman will be most played, followed by priest, with druid dead last (out of all classes).
