He’s always fallen under my radar before but I’m leveling a DK and have really come to appreciate him. The starting zone, Icecrown, and the Legion campaign - everything he does is just cool. One of my favorite moments is the end of the Arthas heart questline where he comes in with a bunch of DKs to save you and Tirion. I’m considering taking out the Ashbringer comic for the first time in like 7 years and giving it a re-read.
The last few weeks I’ve been thinking “I really wish Bolvar was doing more than standing around Oribos”, but I think now I feel that goes double for Darion. I wish his reunion with Alexandros had more to it.
Also, he’s Taliesin Jaffe so bonus points.

He’s cool, but I’ve never understood the hype fascination with all the family drama and Ashbringer outside of memes.
I’ve always liked Darion, since I’ve played since wrath as a Dk I’ve essentially grown alongside Darion and love every time I got to see him in story.

I don’t really care for the sword or Alexandros either. I just find Darion cool.
Though since you bring up the Ashbringer, it really should have been him and not Tirion using it in Wrath. Tirion had no history with the weapon before, meanwhile Alexandros had that whole speech to Darion about him using it one day.

Yeah but Darion is undead and a purified Ashbringer would be insanely painful for him to use, if it has remained corrupted then yeah definitely.
I liked how in the intro to maw, I accidentally fell into the river of souls and he death gripped me to him and said “that’s no place for the living.”

Because it was the first potential legendary Vanilla players ever heard about. Its is basically the Mew of Vanilla WoW. Something unattainable that everyone wanted.
Tirion didn’t have history with the sword directly, but he did have history with Darion because of the sword. Darion performing a second major act of faith by throwing the sword to Tirion and entrusting him with it is a callback to their conversation about the sword after Darion first picked it up. Darion wouldn’t have become a death knight in the manner that he did if he hadn’t sought out Tirion for advice in the first place.
Darion is great, and I’m really hoping we get more between him and Alexandros in future content.
I can’t think of one DK lore character that’s not a badass, even the ones we’ve killed. Even that guy in BfA trying to raise his own dragon had spunk while also respecting you as Deathlord.
