but ultimately Archimonde was the victor, breaking Malorne’s neck and casting him aside. Malfurion, who returned by now, retaliated with a great mass of vines that drove Archimonde to retreat.
Enraged Malfurion now: Sees Cenarius down with the Nightmare, enrages and is captured by a shade.
Powerful enemy upon seeing Malfurion back then:
Queen Azshara yells: Who dares oppose Queen Azshara? You will soon beg for a swift death!
Malfurion Stormrage yells: It’s over Azshara! You and your naga will return to the bottom of the seas where you belong!
Queen Azshara says: Ah… Malfurion Stormrage. I’d hoped to keep you occupied for a little longer. It was my goal to keep you away from Hyjal while my allies attacked. It would seem I have succeeded.
Queen Azshara says: I’ve no need to fight you, for it appears I’ve already won. You cannot stop our attack on Darkshore and save Hyjal at the same time!
Powerful enemy upon seeing Malfurion now:
Sylvanas: was merely wasting my time. Nice axe shot, Saurfang. He couldn’t tank that.
They had to nerf Malfurion because if the Alliance heroes were at their previously stated power levels they would have wiped the floor with the Horde in less than two weeks, and you can’t have that happen obviously. Reason why Velen and the Vindicaar / Lightforged Mechs sat the entire expansion out, too.
That’s what’s so frustrating about this faction conflict. Legion really screwed then by showing the Lightforged Draenei/Draenei have literal spaceships that have never come into play despite being in a full on war in this expansion. The Alliance have every powerful lore hero in the game either with them or neutrally friendly to them. Meanwhile, the Horde had Sylvanas. But she had to look powerful, so every single Alliance character and situation had to be written with them being absolutely dumbed down and weak so that Sylvanas could flex her new god powers.
I’ve been Horde for 14 years. There’s no reason the Alliance shouldn’t have stamped us out by now, we as a faction have no real strength in comparison.
Blizzard likes writing the Horde as the, “underdog”, having to rebuild after losing but never actually showing the losses in game. The Alliance get to, “win” but never actually gain anything for it - usually going into a new expansion after an Alliance, “victory” we start off either weaker or having lost something new whereas the Horde are in full force.
It makes no sense and doesn’t make anyone feel good.
Right because being distracted by the Banshee queen and the battles going on all around couldn’t have proved the necessary distraction. Saurfang also doesn’t really wear the same kind of armor that pc warriors wear.
