Has anyone thought on the following:
Sylvanas gets our old god sword.
But Malfurion has been in the Dream where we know by now a piece of the void resides. Which is like the nightmare corruption.
Maybe Malfurion his newfound oomph is due to this as well?
Doubtful, he's just miffed.
His newfound oomph is more like his oldfound oomph before he decided to become a sad sack during Legion.
Malfurion has always been terrifying to those he considers his enemies ever since WC 3. You can see it in the novellas as well. Malfurion is a scary dude. To me recent events just look like the writers remembering that.

This new found "oomph" is due to his rage over what happened to his lands and people. Try and remember he is not some novice druid, he is the arch druid and has bean alive longer than pretty much every other hero in the game. We just have never seen him when Blizzard wasn't punking him in game. He has always been insanely powerful, we are just now starting to see him show off some of that power.
It's pretty telling of how passive and useless Alliance characters are that, when one actually fights back, we wonder if he's been corrupted or altered.
It "may" because we burnt his home, defiled his land, killed nature spirits, greviously injured him, are trying to kill the love of his life, killed his people and then raised them as undead, but I can't say for sure. He may be pissed about something else completely.
N'Zoth will end up corrupting Darkshore, also Tyrande and Malfurion with it. They will then fuse together as one amalgamation and become the end boss of BfA.
I'm sure he will be fine once he makes love with his wife and has a few kids in their nice tree home... oh wait no more tree...
Well I guess it would mirror the Arthas parallel. Sylvanas burns a city to save it from itself. But there is no evidence for her having done so and any attempt to show one at this point would be like pulling a dead horse out of a hat.
I hope we get a cinematic with Malf conjuring some wicked amount of nature power to unleash on some enemies. Regardless of the cinematic quality, it'll be fun to watch.
I really do hope we can see him put some fear into Horde...
But all "good" things must come to an end. Interpret that how you like.

Yeah, nah.. He just found the backbone that he had in the original games is all.. Finally had his cup of morning java and is ready to kick rear and take names.
