Not super pressing, I realize. But in retail, the Malefic Raiment warlock helm will proc every time you jump – and did so back in the day too. But in Classic, they no longer do this. Bug or intended?
I’m fairly sure the wing-jump mechanic was introduced in Cataclysm - trust me, as a fellow warlock, I’ve looked into this too
Nope. I switched mains for Wrath to a shaman. I only played this warlock during Burning Crusade, this first time around. I used to jump all the time cause I thought it was the coolest thing. The wings definitely proc’d from the beginning.
Does /roar trigger it?
Also, this thread from Cata seems to indicate that was when it was changed:

I never played Cata. I quit partway through Wrath, and didn’t come back to WoW until Classic. I can confirm, T6 helm proc’d wings during BC, cause that’s the only time I ever played this warlock. As for /roar, I can log in and try.
The question was about jumping procing wings, which seemed to have happened in Cata.
Just tried it in Classic, wings don’t proc during /roar or jump. It just procs randomly.
Again, y’all can keep saying it didn’t happen until some expansion I never played, but I know that’s not true. The wings proc’d during jump during the original Burning Crusade, but they’re not proc’ing in BC Classic.
Ok. I mean I linked a thread from Cata where players were saying suddenly jumping procs the wings. But I’m sure your memory is more reliable.
I googled that thread before I posted. I believe Transmorg was introduced in Cata, so I assume that’s some transmorg issue. I mean, why would anyone be using level 70 gear during Cata? So I discounted it, and posted this.
I trust my memory, but I concede it’s possible I logged into my account for the first time in over 10 years, checked out my warlock, still in her Sunwell gear, did a jump, and thought, “Oh yeah, the wings always did that.”
I can 100% say you are factually wrong on this. The graphic effect with the wings was random.
Whats more I have visual proof that it was random as early as Wotlk with this video:
In the first few seconds you can see the graphic effect in the character sheet shortly after I jump over the edge of the GY and there is no visual effect on the helm.
Ok, fair enough. I’m adult enough to admit when I’m wrong.
