Maladath (AU) is unplayable

Sad but true… World of Warcraft Classic - Maladath (AU) server, is now at a point where the population has dropped to such a low point that the game is effectively unplayable.

At present, core aspects of the WoW Classic experience — including dungeon groups, raid progression, 1-60 leveling with groups, and even essential quest chains and attunements — are virtually impossible to complete due to the lack of active players. The server now feels completely deserted, with /who lists showing only a handful of players during peak hours.

Many of us have put hundreds of hours into our characters. Starting over from scratch on another server isn’t just disheartening — it’s not a fair solution for those who have remained loyal to the game and our characters. We simply want the chance to continue playing and enjoying WoW Classic the way it was meant to be played: as a massively multiplayer experience.

I believe it appropriate that you open free character transfers from Maladath to a more populated realm such as Nightslayer, or any other viable server you deem appropriate.

Even if this is a temporary transfer window, it would allow the remaining community to continue playing the game we love, and preserve the time and effort we’ve all invested in our characters.

I support this movement. AQ40 is in full bloom, which means the roster boss returns to guilds as people burn out. An injection of players from Maladath can’t hurt.

I don’t support this at all the reason we currently have a significantly lower population is because of the intentional damage done to the oceanic community from these very actions.

Brief history lessons for people who never learn

Season of Mastery - Swamp of Sorrows AU - Blizzard decided to open server transfers despite a thread i made saying we didn’t want/need them what followed was a complete decimation of the AU server followed by most of the oceanic community quitting the game and a handful who went on NA and quit within a few weeks.

This caused issue because people then felt why bother playing on OCE if blizzard are going to kill the servers what followed was the reprecussions of said decision.

Season of Discovery - Shadowstrike AU / Penance AU - Despite another post asking blizzard to not open transfers again right before BWL they briefly postponed the transfers then opened them killing both AU servers despite shadowstrike having a health population.

The outcome the oce region werent even going to get a OCE server the 3rd time around until we pushed to get one and with the damage done the previous 2 times some players felt its pointless to play on OCE due to how blizzard kills our servers and went to NA.

Despite this and a 1 or 2 day notice that we were getting a oceanic server after pushing on forums and twitter we still managed to have a populater server where we’ve been able to do everything we want.

Blizzard never listened in the past they never tried to do anything to promote encourage a healthier region even small things like opening transfers ONTO the oceanic server or allowing penance au to move to shadowstrike au.

If you’ve chosen to play on Maladath AU after blizzard have said there will be no transfers then you don’t get to dictate killing an entire server because its not up to the standard you want.

If you role on the oce server then you stay here if you don’t like the lower pop then don’t play here at all.

The only thing that blizzard should do for our server are changes that will impact it in a positive way and make the game more enjoyable for all of us without killing the region and our server.

Quick few examples of little things they could do to help our server.

Open transfers ONTO maladath from the other servers to allow players to come here.

Have set rend/zg times per week or make the quest repeatable.

Introduce might of stormwind for alliance.

The other solutions we proposed in sod which were cross realm groups for dungeons or an oceanic layer or something along those lines as well as oceanic seeded servers on NA all of which blizzard refused to invest into so we are now for the 3rd time in a similar situation of low pop no actual solution other than go play on 200ms+ which a large amount of people will not do.

Want to encourage players to return ? bring back gdkp’s as well another failure on blizzards part.

Want to show people that you care about the oceanic region then don’t open transfers don’t kill our server a third time and provide solutions to help the region grow not destabilize it.

There simply isn’t enough OCE players to play wow anymore to justify their own region.

I truley get your point, and it is truley sad of the past damage done to the community. But I fear the damage is already done and not possible to recover from, given Maladath is already a US server set to Oceanic time, the MS wouldn’t change for us playing on it (I don’t think?).

I also personally don’t think there would be enough players who would transfer onto Maladath to recover it to a point it becomes playable again, there just doesn’t seem to be enough interest from the Oceanic player base.

I agree, let us transfer!

I couldn’t agree more, let us x-fer our toons we put so much work in and play with the rest of the WoW Classic community!!! c’mon BLIZZARD~~~~!!!

Maladath is hosted in sydney we get 8ms to the server if you live in sydney and furthers away e.g perth probably get 50-80ms at most. Going onto NA you will get at the absolute lowest 180-200 and most will get anywhere from 200-300ish and a lot of people don’t want to play the game like that after we fought hard to get oceanic servers to begin with many years ago.

If blizzard don’t open transfers it shows the oceanic community that we will have a stable server regardless if its low pop and if they go a step further and make minor changes for the lower pop server it would encourage people to come here not just now (if they opened transfers) but also into the future tbc and other releases.

We are happy on oceanic and we want to continue to play here ofcourse having a low pop is the greatest experience but there’s also pro’s and con’s to high pop as well the only thing i would change here are the examples i mentioned in my previous post.

They could in theory but they split off their carebears.

Retail oce does fine. turn off warmode…have fun. I started oce retail. warmode off, not getting 10 on 1’s all night long.

2019 to mop has seen remulos on life support pretty much since mid tbcc. Oce carebears jsut accepted ping hits to us for many years now. Crap ping outweighed by way more players.

I look at arugals 5000 horde to 700 allaiance and I go…some of that 5000 is horde carebears. 85%+ control, pvp happens less…go for it. I had a char on whitemane for that same reason. I get why, no judging lol

90% horde…close enough to pve pretty much most of the time.

Anniv with faction locks…OCE horde carebears get 1 option. DS is the option.

I’d have given warmode to OCE. its one reason retail oce is doing okay. 90+/10 alliance servers (retail oce likes alliance, a lot)…turn off warmode. horde has a nice day.
