Making som2 work

Now some of the leaks like the pvp reform are good overall changes. But people need more and I think a som2 progressing to a tbc era will be a good idea. I mean we know fresh isn’t going to attract more than streamers and people who enjoy jed fishing and the feeling of starting in such a way. If they said som2 would progress to classic plus or tbc era (eventually) even if they didn’t add new content it would be a great way to create some hype for it.

Bad take.

  1. PvP reform in the “leak” sucks
  2. Fresh (as released in 2019) would generate way more interest
  3. Nobody really cares about TBC and had the biggest flop of classic so far

I’d enjoy TBC and I dont want to just replay 2019 classic although I dont think people shouldnt also get that.

We have era. Let SOM breathe and play on era.

Cmon, at least 11 people are super excited for SoM2.

I’m with you, and many others that I’m seeing. Classic Era fresh. Blizzard should cut their losses with SoM. The changes will never be enough to make the niche of a niche of a niche group happy.

This makes no sense to me as someone who played both SOM and classic.

SOM was not a “loss” it was very successful early on and went the same way most fan servers go and by that I mean dieing around AQ40 and being dead by naxx. I dont mind them releasing another “fresh” classic realm but I personally would rather they do another season of SOM with added quests, reputations, gearing options, and MAYBE some minor class tweaks to let certain meme specs even play the game.

In my own perfect world we would have some tweaks to the meme specs, some evergreen leveling content in the form of more fleshed out zones, and perhaps some new endgame dungeons/raids but you would have to work them out gear wise into the progression of vanilla instead of just adding it say post-naxx.

edit: oh and overhaul the honor system…which I didnt read every point of the leak but seeing as it was a rather large issue in season one of som (and every fan server) the PvP gear and the way its acquired seems an easy win as far as changes go.

Another day, another post that helps inch of closer and closer to retail.

I feel like you are just unaware that even most people who enjoy vanilla wouldnt mind freshening it up, especially seeing as era exists. There is a current no changes vanilla realm for you right there in the selection.

This is a post about a different game known as season of mastery. Perhaps you should start to differentiate the 2. As your preferred game exists.

edit: Just to clarify as I do not want to seem harsh. I am not opposed to fresh era realms. I just dont like this idea that we should forgo additional seasons of mastery just because you want your version and yours alone. I also think we should have TBC and WOTLK era realms for example. These are all different games imho, and picking which one you prefer is the very idea behind classic to me.

I’ll give you that. Maybe my frustration comes from wanting fresh Classic Era servers and Blizzards lack of communication is spilling out into attacking SoM changes.

I guess as long as Blizzard could run a single fresh Classic server and keep SoM changes from spilling into Era, I’d be happy for everyone.

This is actually a point I have made to some of the circles I talk with. Blizzard painted themselves into a bit of a corner with the way they are handling seasons and then dumping them into era.

If your season is full of changes and then you dump those people onto era and say class changes get reverted, gear gets stripped (if it was only in the new season) ect. They kind of have to keep it very much like vanilla while making enough subtle changes to attract an audience.

Honestly its a bad position they have put themselves in and they need to separate them more at somepoint if they want to keep making changes to seasons.

I have seen the Tabard so far as the only thing that spilt over from Era which doesn’t make much of a difference on a P6 server. Now if they add gear/weapons not available in Era, that’s gonna really screw things up.

Which leads me to believe that SoM was incredibly rushed for the sake of adding something and now they are gonna have to play catch-up x10 over to sort this out. Feels like they’ll abandon most of us in the end.

Lol get over it, noone wants to play tbc. Give up.

Though I agree Classic Era fresh is the way to go, it would be smart for Blizzard to run another “cycle” of each. I missed out on TBC Classic last run and it would nice to play through Vanilla as a hunter and finally be top DPS in TBC.

Anyone who disagrees that the top three wouldn’t be popular again are either in denial at how addicted we all are or never played em

Cata Classic is gonna have less players than SoM1

Eh I played tbc and I’m playing wotlk ATM, the only thing tbc and wotlk did was remind me that I’d prefer to just play cycles of vanilla over and over again. I’d play a full cycle, but vanilla is a better game than both tbc and wrath by a country mile.

It’s going to pull more players into SoM2 if they have the carrot of being able to play TBC and then wrath again. I’m in favour of it.
