Making Money

Is there any way to make gold on Vanilla WoW Classic servers. There are so few people playing, or at least leveling new characters, that the AH seems dysfunctional. I have gotten to the point that I can no longer afford spells or skill ups for my professions. Without the AH, what is there to do (no, I am not going to buy gold).

Sell everything.
It really is no more complicated than that. If you loot and sell every drop, you’ll have plenty of cash for skills and mount.

Yes. Just vendor sell everything. The gold will roll in. You will have enough for your mounts. Beyond that, how much gold do you think you need in Classic?

I need to buy te boosts.

How much money do you need? Well, each spell cost 72s at my level. A stack of grey stuff is anywhere from 20s to about 50s and getting that much junk might take 1/4 level. 5g to raise my professions to the next level which I have decided to forgo until later (how many 46 level mobs am I going to skin at level 30). On stuff that I create with the leather, I am lucky to get 8s net each on. Plus you throw in arrows (3s a stack) and/or repairs and I barely break even. This means no saving up for a mount (100g). With a functional AH, I never had an issue, but nothing has sold and looking at the AH, it had a grand total of 90 auctions meaning almost no one is using it. At level 30, I guess I could start soloing instances for some cash but I’d rather be leveling instead.

On a server first character, I usually wait until max level (or close to it) to start a crafting profession. I’ll take skinning and either mining or herbalism and either vendor the skins ore and herb or bank it for later.

Also, I only level up the class skills that I’m actually using in my rotation to save gold. I don’t need to level all my skills every time. That can wait until max or at least until I start running BRD and other end game dungeons or after I’ve trained epic riding.

Also I ban my main toon from the AH unless I need an item for a quest. I only visit the AH on my bank toon for selling the stuff I mail from my main.

It’s tougher without an active AH, but it is still possible to save gold as you level. Hopefully Blizz will merge classic servers soon, but until then tighten your belt and press on. Happy hunting!

If you are strapped for cash as a hunter, I don’t know what to say.

Ayyye bro, just slay Naga, dats where the gold is at.

Normally I would agree with you about the crafting profession but approximately 1/2 of my gear I actually crafted (I would still lack shoulders if not for LW). No peeps for the AH also means no instances, it is like I have the whole world to myself but it gets lonely. I was hoping some of the peeps that ran off to play TBC would get tired and return to classic but so far that has not happened.

I had better luck killing ogres back in the day.

That’s actually a decent idea. Especially if OP is Horde. Desolace is where it’s at for a lower level. Tons of skins and vendor trash drops can stack/sell decently.

And then there’s the shellfish traps with the repeatable quest in Shadowprey Village. Here is where you victory.

If you’re Alliance I dunno what you do.
STV maybe?

Raw gold farms.

As a hunter I loved Dire Maul. Sell the blues you get.

Nice! I love Herbing So much money to be made.
