Making money with fishing?

I keep hearing this is a good way to make money, but besides fishing for essence (which is always camped) I don’t really see how. Nightfin and squid sell for about 7g per stack, alchemy fish sell for nearly nothing, and farming wreckage isn’t consistent enough to be worthwhile. I probably make about 2g per floating wreckage. Am I missing something?

Its more about constant sales than mass gold - fishing is mundane and boring. Either list the raw fish on the ah for someone to buy and convert into food to sell (this is what i do) or cook the food yourself and make an extra 7g a stack more.

A priest while waiting for a ST group to get there, fished about 30g worth of mats while i mindlessly jumped from the ramp into the water.

Give it time, we might see 20g stacks of nightfin soup towards the end of classic since nobody wants to fish.

Also i think the Winter Squid is a limited time item we can loot during fall winter so once the supply line is cut off they will be unfarmable and desired since pvp BGs will be out by next summer. and lv39 twinks will want their +10 agi food.

Firefin snapper always sells at 50c but the crafted fire oils are currently 15s each on my AH. this is a MASSIVE profit margin i look forward to abusing whenever i need to go afk for 10min+ (to craft the oils)

turn 20 firefins into 10 oils is like turning 10 silver into 1.5g, a 1.4g profit per stack. get 10 stacks thats +14g for just afking while you go do something else. It’s about 80g per hour so even if you arent afk it has reached the point where its a competitive gold per hour method.

Fireoils make lesser fire protection pots for those cheap people who only want to spent 50s-1g per pot and not the 3g price for greater.
