What’s the big secret to making gold in WoW? I’m a level 37 hunter, don’t buy anything off the AH, only buy spells that I need, and put auctions up. I have 42g to my name. I’m an herbalist/alchemist… Every time I put potions on the AH I’m instantly undercut. What’s the secret to making gold to get a mount or just gold in general? On era I would be swimming in gold at this point, totally lost on how to make it on anniversary. People just getting super lucky with drops? Appreciate the help/future insults.
Nah brother, they’re just buying gold
Pick flowers and hit rocks.
By level 40 you’ll have enough gold.
Endgame is a different story.
Quest n you ll have the gold for mount by 41ish.
Your low level, none of the potions you make are worth anything, everyone else is dumping them just like you because you get a ton of useless stuff when you grind professions, few if any will sell, so it doesn’t matter if your undercut. Instead sell the mats. herbs, leather, ore, or enchanting mats are where its at, you can also grind and sell greens. But the best option is to sell highly desired materials.
Low level alchemy the only potions worth selling are FAPs and Swiftness Pots.
Lower level you make more money just selling the herbs themselves for the most part.
You can make more than enough money for your 40 mount AND dual spec just farming Swiftthistle.
your gold is normal for your level. why do you think you should have more?
I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem making gold, let alone having my mount money at 40. I’m doing nothing different than I’ve done time and time again but coming up short. So I see the 42g and go huh… what am I doing wrong here. You also may be right, I may have the normal amount, and era because everything is hyper inflated I’m use to that.
You just farm things that sell well on AH.
It can be anything. Just look on AH for items that are like 50s to 1g a piece and farm those items.
Use wowhead to find what mobs drop them.
You don’t worry about professions while leveling. You won’t make any gold off of professions until you are max level. They will probably cost you gold actually at lower levels and will waste your time.
For example, I farmed the burning charms and elemental fire from elementals in Arathi but that is only a viable farm early on before lots of people are 40.
You’ll have to find something that sells like those did and farm those items.
INTRO TO AUCTION HOUSE-ING
search for leather ‘of the Monkey’ gear from Level 10-39
review items and buyout prices
ask yourself “if I bought this item, could I sell it for 2x what I paid for it?”
if yes, buy item and re-list
if no, move on to the next item in the list
essentially, if the item is:
Level 10-19, under 20S
Level 20-29, under 40S
Level 30-39, under 60S
buy item and re-list for 2x what you paid.
Are you using an auction house addon like Auctionator or Auctioneer? It will fast scan the auction house for you and tell you which gathered and BOE items are worth auctioning and which you should just vendor. It will also tell you what prices to sell at.
I recommend using market value instead of undercutting to avoid price manipulation.
It will also tell you vendor prices when selecting between two or more useless quest rewards you know you will immediately sell.
While a lot of people here are giving good advice, and the AH is a great place to make money, don’t assume all prices on the AH are legit, people often over estimate the price others will pay just because they see people posting items at a price, so before diving in to deep, spend some time watching the market, understand what’s to high and what’s to low. It doesn’t do you any good to buy an item cheap, then spend two weeks trying to sell it eating the AH costs because you want 2x to much.
Also when you are looking at gear to buy for yourself, if you have some thats just greatly out leveled, most people greatly overrate stats while leveling up, and much of the gear dumped cheap, say because it has spirit on it, is almost as good as of the bear, or eagle, or monkey gear, yet it will never have even half the value. As example as melee you willl almost always get more out of pure dps and an enchant, along with sharpening stones then any stats on the item. Obviously if your twinking a character, where your looking at all gear vs 1-2 items this all changes.
The AH is also a long term process, don’t assume you can list once. You should plan on listing 1-2 times a day potentially for weeks, never post things for long periods, and always have a buyout, as your real target is people who want gear right now, not that are willing to wait, since if they are willing to wait, they will just keep looking till they get a better price. Also if you have say 20 potions, list a stack at a time, don’t put them all at once, since then if someone undercuts you, you can simply repost with your remaining inventory, and lastly never cancel your auctions, unless you truly screwed up on price, where you don’t want someone to buy it.
I would drop alchemy and purely sell black lotus if you’re lucky you’ll get them eventually
You’re also a hunter at 60 you really invest in learning how to do tribute runs when they come out and or sell the buffs or loot… you will need engineering which is why you should drop alchemy
Coming from a person who has done that in og classic
And already have an epic mount plus more on anniversary server
People really be sleeping on Fishing.
I had 200g by the time my Alchemist hit 30.
You just have to pay attention to what is slurped up and, yes, everytime you are back in town, you have to relist them. Welcome to a crappy megaserver. While you have tons of people to see your products, you also have just as many wanting to sell the same thing.
Never bother with 24h auctions.
I’m currently using Auctioneer. It does ok, but I usually I cut the price a little more than what auctioneer recommends.
As far as recommending dropping Alchemy, I was using it for potions at 60; Mongoose/flasks etc.
Its important to do micro undercuts, as people will just pick what shows up first/cheapest on the list, nothing more.
By undercutting more than suggested, people will undercut you, and etc, tanking the value of the item.
Selling boosts
