Does anyone else think that making the G-99 Breakneck and DRIVE system exclusive to Undermine is a stupid decision. It would be so cool do drive at high speeds throughout Azeroth and other locations. Imagine driving at high speed through Elwynn Forest or Northrend. I hope they reverse that decision and expand the DRIVE system to all ground mounts (optional for people who dislike the system).
I really don’t need any of my other travel options turned into a tedious minigame.
Doesn’t bother me one iota.
I’ve done enough of the “speedy” race games in the different expansions to know I don’t really need them as another traveling mechanic.
I think it’s a really cool system. It would make ground mounts much faster.
I imagine if the car is popular enough they’ll iterate on it for future content, but the issue with Drive is a similar one to Dragonflight: you need to build the zones with it in mind.
Couldn’t care less… I will use the fastest flying mount possible (currently sky-riding) to get from A to B in any zone of Azeroth that allows flying. Ground mounts are collectors items and not much more imo (only suitable where flying is NOT allowed).
No it’s not a stupid decision, it makes perfect sense to calibrate and test it within a smaller environment before and if they allow it elsewhere. It could interact with the world in ways we can’t anticipate, like people clipping through the floor and dying / disconnecting.
I’m glad you’re not a developer OP.
I want to use the mount every where not just Undermine.
That’s fine, reconsider how you approach feedback in the future - e.g. “stupid decision” is melodramatic and unproductive.
Developers are people too.
The DRIVE system will MGMGA (Make Ground Mounts Great Again).
the only reason I will even engage with this DRIVE system in Undermine is because my only other option is to walk. also for Fast & Furious memes, I guess.
anywhere that I can use my flying mount, I will always do so. expanding DRIVE to the rest of the game world will not make me choose to use a ground mount over a flying one.
Dragonriding started out as limited to the Dragon Isles.
I’m just utterly amused that the one patch they introduced D.R.I.V.E. in, is the one it’s most problematic for… like the only place I can think of worse for DRIVE is… actually I can think of more than a few cluttered cities and zones where it’d be awful.
This.
I really would like it in the other zones but there’s no telling how it would pan out so it makes sense to have it only work in a more contained environment.
It’s likely they’re going to see how the wider audience handles D.R.I.V.E live, and either scrap it or keep it depending on both feedback and technicality issues. I’m sure if it’s super popular and people love it, we’ll see it move outside of Undermine. Even more so, I bet they’ll start using the system to apply to other ground mounts depending on the nature of them. They’re just playing it safe for now, which is fine. We’ve seen this with many other systems they introduce.
I mean this is almost certainly a test bed for if all ground mounts can use this system going forward…
We still have that with dragon riding
So yea
Obviously they’re going to test the waters first in this zone. We will have to wait and see in the future if it opens up to the rest of the world.
I assume there’s still a danger with crashing fast mounts into objects will cause a disconnect or falling through the ground. ![]()

I for one welcome our new kodo riding overlords as they careen around at 1500% walk speed.
