Going into Dragonflight, there is an obvious deep investment in the idea of flight. Though primarily through dragon-riding, why not inject that elsewhere if it makes sense? Druids have had flight form since level 68 of original TBC (also poly immune + can gather herbs + instant + 8 or more customizations) - Zen Flight already exists, it’s speed just needs to be adjusted to mount speeds/restrictions (ground/fly at X character lvl). Not to mention soon to be Dracthyr characters with Soar.
If you control+f Zen flight in the general direction of any monk forum you’d probably see someone asking for it to actually be a good spell worth pressing. Currently serving the only 5 monks who not only even play monk, but also fish, the Zen Flight spell could really use a refresh and bring in more love to the monk fantasy.
Some people have offered ideas such as letting it be used as a slow fall: I think this is bad because you can prepare for these things in advance with dozens of slow fall toys and goblin gliders or pvp gliders. Additionally, because of these same things, you actually never need Zen Flight to save you dying from a fall as it is only usable in areas you can already fly in and you can use most slow fall toys + gliders in every zone while outdoors.
Leaving it as is would be a continuation of years-long disappointment from the monk community as it is fairly obvious the spell could be more and people who love monk want it to be more, but it isn’t even on a lot of monks action bars because of this. I don’t speak for all monks as I know some feel indifferent. Easy win for monks and Blizzard imo. It’s a great representation of how far simplicity can go aesthetically speaking and I love using it, but the spell isn’t where it needs to be. Either way I love monk and I am excited to main my WW/BrM in Dragonflight
TL;DR @Blizz WTB nimbus cloud so I can soar the skies on my monk cloud that already exists but only goes 60% for no real reason qq

Absolutely Zen Flight should be as fast as flying mounts, as well as usable in all places any mount can be used. I want to cruise around outdoor dungeons on my meditation cloud darn it! Beyond time blizz updated this.

I also wouldn’t mind if the cloud was usable in non-flying zones as well. Like maybe I could heal on the cloud in instances! Would be amazing. I would be a channelweaver with such a cloud.

I’m fairly certain that the slow speed of Zen Flight is the trade-off for being able to insta-cast while moving, fish, and herb from it. I’m not willing to give that up.

Gianavel, I did mention that druids have had the instant cast while moving, and being able to herb with their version of a fast cloud (fast bird instead). They can’t fish from flight form, but again keeping Zen Flight at 60% speed for the 5 monks that routinely go fishing doesn’t seem like a spell that has seen it’s true potential.

Yeah I mean… if they weren’t going to update the speed on the zen flight it would be interesting to see them at least allow you to use more abilities while on it. Still would prefer the speed, though!

I think if Zen Flight was updated to function how mounts/flight form does for druids, it would actually become a far more used spell and potentially even attract more players to the monk class. I’d probably never leave the cloud honestly unless I was raiding or doing keys/pvp
Yeah, but that would be taking something unique from Druids that they’ve had forever, and the devs aren’t likely to do that for Monks.
You want Zen Cloud to be useful? Push for it to give slowfall/levitate in no fly zones.

It isn’t unique to druids. It’s in your spell book right now. It’s just 250% slower. It doesn’t have to be 250% slower.
I’m sorry, I thought it was obvious that the extra speed is what makes it special/unique for Druids.
Absolutely agree. Druids have been the reigning champions of instant cast flight (let alone gathering while in flight, if they can still do that) long enough… Let someone else taste the proverbial rainbow… get it? proverb?.. monk?

I main a druid, and i really don’t care Monks can instant fly too. Another solution is to maintain the speed but then allow Monk to use Zen Flight in “No flying” zones. It would be something unique as well
