Make Zekvir Immune To Pet Threat/Taunt And REMOVE Him One Shotting Pets

Here’s a simple “fix” for Zekvir in ?.? difficulty one shotting Pets. Simply make him immune to ANY threat, including taunts, caused by Pets.

This way we will HAVE to face tank him, just like every other class and we WON’T lose the only major source of our damage every other second during this encounter.

This is equal to, or even worse than, if he puts a “silence” affect on Caster DPS/Healers every few seconds and ONLY way to remove that would be to stand still for at least three secs straight, if you move a step, you stay silenced… Or he starts breaking Melee Weapon of all the Melee classes every 5 seconds “by design with working as intended mentality” and you have to keep repairing it or you can’t do any damage to him. That’s literally what happens every few seconds with Pets.

Edit:- Further explanation below, why he needs to ignore both taunt and threat.

So, you turn taunt off and he still attacks your pet? I’m curious why you’re asking for him to be immune to taunt.

You could just turn off taunt.

The issue isn’t him attacking pets if taunted (turn off their taunt abilities), the issue is him one shotting pets for ‘reasons’.

I’m not sure what the issue is since he doesn’t make sense.

He says he wants Zek immune to taunts. …why?
Then he says it’s because Zek one-shots pets. …ok
So the obvious follow up question is “is taunt turned on?” The OP doesn’t say, he just says he wants Zek immune to taunts.
If Zek is one-shotting pets with taunt turned off then yeah, there’s a problem, but if the OP is just leaving taunt on then wouldn’t turning it off fix his problem??

So not sure how it is for the other specs, but with BM, if your first Kill Command crits, pets will rip threat and go splat. Some times even in the span of getting your two Barbed Shots out of the way, they some times peel threat.

It’s just a little RNG based on what your pets do. It’s definitely not the end of the world though. But it does suck when you’ve gotta revive your pets within the first 5-10 seconds of the fight, or any point after that for that matter

Get a pet with cower?

He does occasionally. It isn’t a massive deal but it was a source of annoyance when I did it.

To anyone and everyone who doesn’t know this “working as intended mechanic”, yes! Zekvir WILL one shot Pets out of nowhere with melee swings even if Taunt is turned off.

Since BM Hunters majority of the damage (over 80%) comes from Pets, they obviously “generate” threat even when taunt is turned off since damage = threat. Hence the suggestion of not only to have him “ignore/immune” to any threat generated by Pet damage but ALSO ignore the taunt as well.

Taunt ignore reason being some/many/a lot of people who don’t play a Pet spec are assuming having a Pet means “we can easily ignore fight mechanics, stand at far distance and make this fight target dummy.” No one wants THAT dumb version of the fight, we just want to make sure he is NOT one shotting Pets.

For example, imagine if he puts a “silence” affect on Caster DPS/Healers every few seconds and ONLY way to remove that would be to stand still for at least three secs straight, if you move a step, you stay silenced… Yup, that’s pretty much how it goes, he kills the Pet then we need to spend at least three secs to rez and few secs later Pet is dead again. Regardless of taunt being off AND defensive CDs used.

This is outright trolling, nothing else.

I vaguely recall the change was due to some LoS trick hunters could do with their pet to trivialize the encounter.

Maybe I can help OP. I’ve recently rerolled to Hunter from Monk. It just isn’t showing on the forums yet.

Zekvir seems to be OK on my pet from when I was 620 onwards.

The damage seems to be less aggregious than Shadowlands Torghast tower challenge mode (remember the 16 floor ones?). Only pet type that lived long enough then was clefthooves in non animal companion mode/increases Kill command crit talent.

With Zekvir with defensives and mend pet he seems good enough to fight and it’s only a crit that seems threatening.

Is this a hunter tuned thing for Zekvir? My felguard can tank him pretty good. The only reason I ended up tanking him was to keep him in the middle of the room. With my pet tanking him he ended up on the platform too much and that come killed me. Anyways or is felguard just that much strong vs hunter pet ? Either way I agree he needs to not one shot pets.

I haven’t tried on my Warlock yet, can’t say if only Hunter issue but I have heard for Destro Locks, Voidwalker pet has similar issues unless fixed.

My pets are still getting one-shot. It happens at the beginning of the fight and on multiple occasions it has happened after he’s already below 50% health. I have two clips of this happening, actually, and of course Growl is off in both clips.
Not only does this keep happening, but I got hit with a 4,504,534 Melee (367,871 Absorbed) (1,665,062 Overkill). A critical hit, obviously. This is my entire health bar. Oh, but it’s fine to take away hunters’ ability to use their pets as normal, right? We can take these hits and face tank, right? Right? :grinning:
I am so frustrated at this fight right now, and I’m even more frustrated at how Blizzard is celebrating 20 years of this BS as it’s happening. Remember that one day when Dark Ranger was good? I hate it here.

Update: Finally managed to defeat him this morning on ?? difficulty due to extremely lucky placements & Turtle. I am tired. I still hate it here, to be clear. :joy:

Doesn’t make a difference. Occasionally pets will still pull aggro, which would normally be fine, but in this fight it’s not. It’s an incredible disadvantage, actually.

Reading patch 11.07 notes, still NO HOPE for Devs doing their jobs properly and tuning this for every Spec, rather than adding intentional road blocks and turning their heads away. :expressionless:
