Make Your Classic WoW release date predictions!

June 18, 2019. A couple weeks after the suspected date for 8.2, and the Tuesday before the Summer Soltice (June 20).

While that would be awesome, I highly doubt this. As blizzard probably wants to have people run the content. July 16th gives time for a beta if they plan on having one.

My speculation also comes from the fact that it is speculated patch 8.2 would roll out on May 28th. With five weeks of content July 16th would be the most likely date unless blizzard for some reason makes people wait a month to release the raids, in that case we are all screwed lol

June 18th (Tuesday), which is the 91st day of Spring. There are 4 days left till Summer.

91+4 = 95.

95…

July 9th, 2019

Wut? Yes, 91+4 = 95, but how is that relevant?

Nothing, sorry. It’s just a background for my prediction.

Yeah maybe you should Google the release dates of wow expansions. Then you’ll see they’ve never released an expansion between January and August. If you think that’s a coincidence then you should probably develop a better understanding of how business works. See below.
|Title|Release Date|Level Cap|
|The Burning Crusade|January 2007|70|
|Wrath of the Lich King|November 2008|80|
|Cataclysm|December 2010|85|
|Mists of Pandaria|September 2012|90|
|Warlords of Draenor|November 2014|100|
|Legion|August 2016|110|
|Battle for Azeroth|August 2018|120|

Yeah, I was there, for vanilla and every expansion so I know the release dates quite well. My original point, and the reason I replied to your inaccurate data that “Blizzard Releases In August” was because yes, blizzard has released things in August. However the way you phrased it

Blizzard releases in August.

Made it sound like that is something they exclusively do. Saying Blizzard will release wow classic in August because they have never released an expansion between January and August is like saying just because most blizzard employees don’t like pineapple on pizza that means all employees dislike it.

Yes pineapple on pizza is nasty for the record, but I hope you see my argument and why I believe you saying “Blizzard Releases In August” is a completely invalid argument. Has blizzard released things in August including wow expansions? Yes. Is that the primary time they release games? Statistically no. Is it possible Classic WoW will come out in August? Yes, however I believe it is very unlikely due to the potential patch cycle of modern wow and blizzards interest in saving the sinking ship.

Where do I get this rumor of the potential patch cycle? Here you go - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB-epa_AWOM&t=313s - Start at 5 minutes 12 seconds in the video for the relevant information.

Being at the bare minimum of the speculated release date of patch 8.2 blizzard will begin to roll out the raid content on week 1 or 2, that would lead us to the final content drop being June 25th or July 2nd. Seeing as how blizzard has released a good portion of their expansions in the middle of the month. Seeing as how if they roll out the content for patch 8.2 without delay, that would put the release of classic wow on July 16th.

If blizzard foolishly waits a month before rolling out the raid content, then yes I can see an August release. However thinking that they would not release classic wow in July because they have never released an expansion between January and August is like saying apples taste like oranges or vise versa.

I want to summarize all of this by saying this is not an expansion release. Just because it is vanilla world of warcraft does not mean they will follow old releasing conventions that I don’t think are even releasing conventions, I just think it happens to be when the content is ready. Blizzard has had this fancy ideal, that they release things when its ready, at least they use to have this ideal in the past.

Sorry for not qualifying the obvious - blizzard doesn’t release in August exclusively. My point is that there’s a commercial strategy behind not releasing in the first half of the calendar year. On a probability basis blizzard is far more likely to release in August and September as it assists their revenue padding for financial reporting. This explains why they release the second half of the calendar year almost of the time, and they’ve never released prior to August excluding BC.

Blizzard’s stock has dropped by 50% since October 1st. They have dropped almost 1000 employees since. Do you think Blizzard is in a position to do such things? Pre-Diablo Immortal, yeah. Post Diablo Immortal, nah.

You hit it on the nose… Tuesday, August 20th, 2019

I can speak to this because I actually run a business, and let me tell you the way revenue is managed is based on market expectations. Blizzard management needs to load revenue at certain parts of the business year, and it’s in their interest for it to come on in August or later.

Blizzard’s stock dropped because everyone’s dropped in the industry.

Blizzard also reported a record profits year.

Blizzard axed 800+ jobs because those jobs aren’t needed for mobile games… a clear sign of what’s to come (with Diablo Immortal being the first real direction change)

Blizzard isn’t hurting, they are greedy. Classic isn’t coming because they have a soft spot for Classic fans. Do you think Brack would have eaten such a huge portion of crow when he announced Classic… he even TOLD us his all-time favorite ice cream flavor was Cookies and Cream, but some folk’s favorite is Vanilla.

If this were just about “feels”… Classic would not be a thing. It’s coming because someone did the math and the preliminary research on how much it would cost to bring Classic back to life versus the potential revenue fit their ROI expectations. Only a company like Blizzard can fire 800+ employees, take away stock options for employees, screw investors out of HALF their money with a 50% stock drop, and still have a record year with execs getting huge bonuses.

Classic lovers are just plain lucky, that their wants happen to align with Blizzard’s greed… release a product requiring as little change (effort) as possible, and make money from it.

Soon all PC gamers will feel the bite when the current focus of Blizzard is revealed to be mobile gaming. The people arguing that WoW and the other franchises are making too much money for them to stop… do not understand business at all.

The 800 people layoff (much being marketing/distribution) is the clearest indicator. Where do you go to buy mobile games? Just how big is the box of a collector’s edition mobile game?

8.6.2019 , that is my 53rd birthday!

June 13th 2019.

When school ends.

Why did their stock boost so much since 2016.

It looks like it’s going back to the pre-boosted value.

50/50 between June 18th and June 25th, 2019.

If you’re guessing a release day that isn’t a Tuesday, you’re probably doing it wrong.
