Make WOW GREAT again- ditch the Valor Cap& make tier accessible in m+, like actually

Why the valor cap, and why that particularly stupid number of 750? why not 800 or 1000 such that we don’t have to wait another week for 50 or 250 additional valor. Seriously what’s the point, the loot system already blows, and yes i see these efforts to improve it, thank you, but they have very little (no) relevance in any higher end content… this is true for cypher, sandworn and whatever other gear there is (except valor, if it were uncapped, it could be relevant). By the time we collect enough, or upgrade it sufficiently, cypher for instance, the pieces are obsolete…

So the valor cap, getting that piece of bis loot is already pretty challenging, what is wrong with the notion that if we do get it, at some lower level, that we can upgrade it to the maximum level allowed based on our io?

Even if valor was uncapped, it would still not be a free pass, or easy by any means.

Then, this tier stuff, great, if you raid, but what if you don’t? What if you are just pushing high end mythic content, it is still pve and from observation (i dont know actually stats), but i am willing to bet that the M+ community is close to as large, if not larger than the raid community… yeah ofc there is overlap

Tier is very relevant in M+, however unobtainable outside of raids. Why not make relevant gear to content obtainable in said content? I came somewhat late to this patch, didn’t play past patch, but i am willing to bet my hat that i will KSM before I see a single piece of Tier in holdings (since it cannot drop in mythics). It is not that it can’t be done without, of course it can, but why be “barred” from something significant and fun/satisfying? Im not suggesting “easy” tier, but make it part of the M+ drop pool.
Sure, it will be possible to “make” pieces 8 weeks in, but from what i understand, that will be time gated as well. So, my current 20 million flux, won’t really see any good use… sadly

Final note, I understand WoW draws much of its special sauce from raids, always has, but the truth is, there are many working men and women, with families and jobs, who would like to enjoy the game and the content they choose to play fully, not some watered down gimp version of it. In my cause, i am sure raids are fun, but 2-4 hours on work nights is simply not permissible, nor is it desirable. However 25-45 min mythic runs are fine… same goes for my significant other who also works and has responsibilities.
M+ came to wow a few expansions ago, before there was pvp and raids (pretty much, we dont really count heroics), however it evolved to its own and major content category, I really feel it would be a great thing for the M+ community if the “new and exciting” addition to this patch (tier?!?), would be reasonably available there as well. just an idea

Valor cap is fine. Without it, Mythic plus would be a ridiculously better source of gear than pvp or raiding.

I mean it’s already basically a better source of gear than raiding for most players.

What difference does it make?

People should do content they enjoy. Basically you’re saying M+ is more fun than Raiding and PvP therefore we should make loot worse in this mode to justify the other 2 existence.

WoW effing blows chunks right now. So many unfun fuc.king things in this game.

the reason for valor cap is due to m+ being a easy mode for gearing

timed? gear chance

not timed? no prob fam i got you gear chance

timed or not timed? no prob fam heres your consolation prize in great vault

raiding: lol you want gear and didnt kill boss? see you next week git gud haha

You can get Tier from the M+ section of the Vault as well as Raids.

The chance of getting one from a M+ vault (even fully loaded) is closer to zero than a given chance. OP might not find raiding enjoyable, that’s actually the opinion of the greater majority of WoW players whether the forum-goers like to believe it or not, statistics dont lie.

… However… There is a system launching next week where M+ players have a guaranteed piece weekly. So I dont see this as much of an argument. As for the valor cap… I dont agree with its removal unless we are in a state like this week where the mythic race is done, nobody is getting any major advantage over how they are gearing. If anything having gear will push people into content they haven’t touched yet, for your average Mythic+ runner that would be raiding or maybe even PvP.

I’m not for or against the valor cap. It’s likely to be removed in the .5 patch anyway as that seems to be the new trend.

No, he is saying that unless you adjust those forms of gearing they will be replaced by mythic+…

its already replaced by M+

its too easy to gear in M+ compared to raiding and pvp

easy 278 every week, unlimited gear

People should do content they enjoy.

And they do, you can chose not to get tier from raiding or from the vault by not doing content that awards it.

No one is making you do anything so this argument is bad.

MP has ruined this game! Why would I want to run the same thing 100s of time over and over.

You mean like how we run the same raid bosses over and over again? xD

Let’s be real here. The reason people that are anti-M+ is the players involved with it, not the system itself.

u did raids once a week…

This I agree with. I really wish they would alter the gear scaling. I get they want people to take part in the content, but it does feel too free in it’s current form and doesn’t really incentivize the concept of pushing your key for better rewards.

Yes, on this character. I’ve done raids once a week. I enjoy raiding. That doesn’t mean the vast majority dont.

edit: This also doesnt take into account being stuck on a boss for literal days on end. It’s the same thing. We beat the same boss over the head with a club until the loot piñata breaks. Nothing is different aside from the instance they are inside.

I agree mostly with the OP, I’m not sure where people get the idea that M+ is super easy to gear. You still have to get what you want to drop and then, upgrade it, if you can. I waited until the 2nd to last week to get my Bloodscale trinket on my pally tank, regardless of spamming DoS runs, even a 0 every week. My Bear and DH still haven’t ever seen that trinket. Quit acting like everything you want drops everytime you run a M+ . 75% of the time I get 0 gear from a run.

on to Tier, I could care less about tier in M+, but guess what, now its a freaking requirement if you want to do a +15 or better. I’ve even been turned down for 10s because I had no Tier, even though i’m double legendary, 95k health and average 6k dps as a Tank.

Tier is ruining M+ for those who have limited to play. I don’t have 2 hours every other day to Raid, wish I did, but i don’t.

From this data, we’ll be proceeding with an estimated 6% drop chance from the Great Vault.
3 Mythic+ 15.0%

This is directly from your article. OP is talking about M+ chances, I’m talking about M+ vault chances. A weekly chance of 15%. Unless you are trying to prove me right. Thank you.

I’m saying that you’re being a bit hyperbolic to make a point. The OP said the only way to get Tier was from the Raid which is completely false.

That much is true. I was not agreeing with his assessment that it is required. I even went on to state that we are getting a system next week that allows M+ players guaranteed tier every week.

edit: vault time. I’m exiting stage left. Good luck and thanks everyone for having a conversation that didn’t result in a flame war!

You’re a tank. You can get into 15s without tier. I think ilvl and dungeon score is more of a determining factor of whether you get into 15s
