Its time to be honest guys, Blizzard has created a problem - your AH and mailbox being inconvient to get to - and is now selling you a solution to fix it. All players are not equal, if you have more money to spend then Wow gives you the option to make the game easier for you. Just make the game free to play and be honest with your player base.
There will be haves and have nots here and it will be based on your socio-economic status outside of the game.
The only way this ever happens is if there was an insane drop in player numbers. This game isn’t worth its sub fee yet we all pay it as we love it and/ or addicted.
There are free 2 play online games with better customer service and 10x more modern graphics/ game engine
Imo free to play game always have a catch, its either p2w or theres alot of stuff you need to unlock like weight/inventory slots like Black Desert Online

But the AH and mailbox are literally not inconvenient to get to. That’s the thing. The mount is the epitome of video game luxury.
Who cares if someone gets to the AH right away and you have to dragonride for 30 seconds to reach it?

Wow is a free to play game that charges you a sub.
You can purchase the mount with gold earned in game… maybe not today but probably by the deadline.

This is literally the same logic as a game like Lost Arc - “you can level your character but you need to play 8 hours a day 5 days a week”.
It is an option. If I didn’t have the gold and wanted the mount, I would have to decide which I would rather do… Earn 1.25 Million gold in the game or work a couple of extra hours (I mean this literally) this week.
Is leveling your character in Lost Arc optional? AH and mailboxes are easy to get to in WoW a mount makes even easier is all. Lets not pretend we are don’t have hearthstones, mailbox toys, and mages with portals that can get us to an AH/ mailboxes.
I can get to an AH and mailbox pretty quick and easily. What are you on about?

Sadly, I’m a fan of the classic fantasy genre. WoW is almost the only decent game with D&D like races and classes. Other DEVs decided they want to reinvent the wheel instead of picking a classic fantasy setting and making a classic MMO with modern graphics… 
Destiny is not this way (before you argue with me you can purchase almost all of the content Destiny offers on a sale for $70), Warframe is not this way, FF14 online allow you to play over 70% of the game as a free to play. Etc.
