What is the point of world bosses? I’de call them a loot pinata but the loot is outdated by the time they even release.
They don’t have any real mechanics or gameplay, it’s just one laggy mess, it’s terrible.
I sit on the bleachers until the boss is 5% hp and flame shock it once a week for a piece of terrible loot
My solution would be to put them in an instance, give them punishing pug-friendly mechanics and give them real loot. They should have a normal and heroic mode that are both flex, and drop champion and hero gear respectively. This essentially makes them mini-raids scattered around the world in a similar vein of something like tol barad.
This would make a fun weekly chance at additional loot instead of the wasted garbage can content they are now.
Edit: I really don’t care what you want to call world bosses, it’s not very relevant and it derails the thread
I’ve gotten three decent chest pieces off The Gobfather, one of which actually was for the mail wearing character that faced him. I love that guy! My DK and my DH (plate and leather) will be overjoyed if they ever hit 80.
just seeing what goes on in lfr and w-bosses alone is enough for me to not want any mechanics at all. just avoiding the bad is proving monumentally difficult for random groups tyvm
throw in the two second cast time on instants and BAM… extra spicy world content
“A world boss is a raid boss-level monster that appears in the main, shared game world rather than an instance limited to a certain number of players.”
This is from the World of Warcraft wiki on world bosses. You are just wrong calling an instanced boss a world boss.
I understand where you are coming from, world bosses are chaotic and can cause a lot of lag. I actually agree with adding single boss raid instances, or like 2 boss raids. We haven’t had that since BFA I think?
But calling it a world boss is just incorrect and I see no reason why both can’t exist. Create a world boss with some basic mechanics, like the gobfather, and make a 1-2 boss raid to compliment a raid tier. Or maybe as an x.x.5 or x.x.7 feature.
I could argue the wiki isn’t written by Blizzard etc etc
But sure, call it whatever you want the naming of these once a week killable bosses is really just not interesting at all to debate, i’ll concede this as it is completely beside my point anyways
The instancing was just part of the solution to a problem I had, it’s not mandatory it would just be realistic and easy to do.
World bosses have serious problems in World of Warcraft, as it stands right now they are unbelievable laggy, unrewarding, and have 0 engaging gameplay. I understand your point about the mini raids which was essentially my solution in the first place, to turn world bosses into a 1 boss mini raids around the world with no trash. Though the difference would be the mechanics, I still think the “world bosses” should have very intuitive mechanics compared to a raid, but messing up the mechanics should be punishing.
If we got both that’s great because I’m a big supporter of mini raids, but it still doesn’t solve the problem that world bosses are pretty objectively terrible content
That’s the key point. Honestly I haven’t had lag issues on world bosses in ages. I typically main melee so maybe I’m not getting as much of the screen clutter that can cause it or something, not sure.
I like being able to group up and just swarm a damage sponge, with how easy it is I think the reward system works. I actually think gobfather is the best version yet, 1 guaranteed warbound item. For how easy it is that’s really good, especially if your an alt maniac like me.
Most games with world bosses have the issues your talking about though. At the end of the day 40+ people spamming their crazy animations for 2-3 minutes straight is gunna cause some lag. Even if it was instanced the group size would cause some of those issues.
