See its not necessarily off topic. Insta cast tyrant would be good for what demo is, but is it in service of an unfun design? Would insta tyrant simply be delaying aspects of demo decline in design?
Lipstick on a pig and all that
Perhaps a better solution would be to buff up other summons, nerf tyrant slightly, set demon core cap to….7? And then instead of basing tyrant damage on number of current summons it sucks up demon cores when you cast it, maxing at 4. Borrowing from enhance a little there but…meh.
Same for Vilefiend/whichever hound you turn it into, but max that soaks up is 2-3.
Demo could still really use a new mechanic, or some other spells in the mix. Specifically spells, not summons. Kinda boring to spam shadowbolt/hog constantly. Wouldn’t mind yoinking the rifts outta destros tree

I don’t think this really changes much. All it does is scale the meters to be more even. Sure, it would punish you less if you make misstep during your rotation, but all the problems still exist without instant Tyrant.
I feel like this would just hinder our core economy every Tyrant and potentially would take away the amount of imps deposited during Tyrant windows in general, which could hurt aoe and imp damage, kind of moving the meters even more aggressively. I genuinely don’t see an issue with Demo’s current iteration outside of overwhelming casts. Doing your ideas here would not change our casting stranglehold, which is the whole point of instant tyrant. The leeway it would grant us isn’t just one less cast, but the important cast that makes or breaks our damage profile.
Would I like other options outside of Tyrant, sure, but I think that would require a much larger overhaul to the design of the class, not something I expect Blizzard to actually do until next expansion (likely) or a major patch (not so likely). Instant Tyrant would ease the current iteration in a positive way for the remainder of the expansion at the very least.
I agree, rifts that work similarly to destro, but summon demons would be fun. Nether Portal did that, but it felt clunky, perhaps charges that bring out different demons based on the portal that rotates. Or a split talent that makes your portals summon single target demons or AOE ones. Could be an alternative to Tyrant and make it meaningful damage. Although this still doesn’t really change the flow of a fight, it only would remove the punishing aspect of bad tyrants. (Which is where that depth I talked about is).

Alternatively, Blizzard could stop designing fights/mechanics like they think we’ve signed up for Dance Dance Revolution - being a caster who has to stand still and cast wouldn’t be an issue if we could occasionally stand still and cast.
Except blizz is not going back on to how mechanics/dungeons were years ago.
It seems now the go to is more mechanics the better. And by now with how far the game designs has gone, is time to make DPS CDs like the way tyrant works instant.
There’s no benefit to casting this much anymore.

Unlikely, while there are times where we can just stand and cast, there will always be something that will force us to make micro movements. Which is fine, but it leads back to the original point. Instant Tyrant would allow movement during important windows, without punishing our burst. Those micro movements can and will break our window entirely, that .2 seconds makes all the difference. Instant Tyrant would fix that.

Im in favor of insta tyrant, however, its an extremely minor fix in the overall context of the fight. Its one gcd. At max, 5-7. In short, the problem is the overwhelming amount of time having to stand and cast hand, shadow bolt, summoning demons, etc. THAT’S the real downfall of the spec.
I completely 100% agree insta tyrant is a step in the right direction and will help demo get closer to being modernized, however, i want to emphaze that it is NOT the fix-all to the spec. There needs to be so much more modernization before demo gets anywhere near close to a ‘modernized’ spec.

Agreed 100%. This suggestion is simply the fastest, easiest one with no downsides.
