Maby because it is the only Gas mask item out there unless I missed one or two.
I love the looks of some real life gas masks like the GP-5 and other military surplus models.
But I wish there was Gas mask transmogs in WoW I would love to have a plate gas mask.

I was super happy to see the cloth plague mask set, but the OG Vile Fumigator mask has always been the best! Even if they split up the transmog - a helm plague mask and a cape slot backpack to go with it
