It’s a flying form just like druid except we actually have to work for it and let us loot in it too
I would rather get spec specific flight forms. Turning into a phoenix for Fire, gliding around on ice for Frost, becoming an Arcane Barrage looking streak and flying around like the transporters in HFC or Khadgar’s Tower in WoD for Arcane, etc. or just straight up levitation. Those flying manhole covers we got instead of proper class mounts in Legion were a joke.
I love my sewage cover, and Jaina’s WE mount is also up there with my favorites for mage. But yeah; all those ideas are cool. Turning into a phoenix would also match the old Mediv raven, but with more spec flavor.
On a side note, I also really liked the Mechagon jetpacks and I think those would have made great mounts for a future tinker class.
The only mount I liked so much I farmed for it on mythic when it was still relevant content. Blizzard need to add more of that if they want a scrub like me to push himself to do top tier content, LOL!
Yep. I still get salty about them whenever I scroll past them looking for other mounts. So much opportunity and they borked it. Meanwhile some of the class mounts for other classes were amazing - big fan of the rogue mount even if it is just a dragon reskin. Even worse, the spellbook looking mount they introduced would have been perfect for Mage.
As for Tarecgosa’s, I’d happy with instant cast and/or allowing it to carry a passenger. Also missed opportunity not to make it a dragon-flying mount.
I actually think they’re doing that with the next patch. They’re making all dragon and most of the winged mounts useable for dragonriding. Seems like a pretty big undertaking though so it might get pushed back, but hopefully they get it together before the expansion ends, lol.
As someone who just learned about this spell, with a fresh 70 mage (never had one at max before)… I approve.
I like the manhole cover. It happens to be my favorite mount. It’s quiet, elegant, and unobtrusive. I’ll take it every time over that clunky thing the Shamans got.
The Rogue mount is the coolest class mount, but for my money the Mage disk is second.
As for Tarecgosa’s Visage, I’d love for them to update the model and make the mount usable in macros.
Exactly! It might be less flashy than what other people got, but it is super convenient and doesn’t block the field of view. It also makes it easy to fly inside buildings until you get dismounted, because you actually fit through doors.
But it’s not even unique. There are half a dozen flying disk mounts available to all classes. Hell, there was one already even before these were released in Legion. And my biggest beef with them is that got awful surfing stance you are stuck in when mounting them. The flying disk mounts from SL have a much cooler stance. Not to mention an actual mounting animation.
nah, man, those were added AFTER. The only flying disc pre-legion was the MOP one and that one has a much larger hitbox (so, less convenient) and looks much worse. Also, there’s less than five disc mounts, but there’s a million of the others.
Also, all other mounts were retextures of something (Ex: dragon changed to raven, gryphon turned to owlcat, wyvern turned to wolfhawk, etc.) so that point doesn’t really stand. If anything, mage and druid got the most unique ones.
I’m with you that mage could use more class themed mounts (in fact, all classes could have a second round of class mounts), but don’t trash the sewer lid, it’s pretty iconic AND comfortable.
Yeah exactly. Other than maybe the Shaman mount all the others were just variations on the same stuff we already have. Reskinned horses and dragons and whatnot. The disk was the only real “unique” mount at the time as it had only one other comp in the Flying Red Cloud (which, incidentally, would look better without the disk part).
Not for nothing the Jaina mount is a reskinned Shaman mount and if we’re going to complain about mount animations don’t get me started with the notion of sitting on an elemental’s forehead to fly around. It’s an absurd mount. And yes, I have it. And it also has been recycled to death now with PvP and M+ rewards.
It’s actually the idle stealth animation for whatever race you are which I’m fine with, but that’s not to say it couldn’t be improved for some races. Having skipped most of SL I don’t have any of the disks from that expansion so if they changed the character’s riding animation that’s cool.
Oh is it? Rogue is the one class I’ve never played so I had no idea. I can’t believe how wonky those stealth animations are, glad I can’t seem them coming.
