Thank you for your input. No one is debating that a niche community enjoys MSV. Please read the actual thread. This isn’t a “Remove MSV” thread. This is a “Bring RSV back” thread. The two are not mutually exclusive.
MSV should’ve been a 4th spec from the start, due to RSV being the most popular hunter spec and routinely one of the most popular specs in the entire game.
We just want OUR spec back. MSV wasn’t designed for hunters. It was designed for nonhunters. So MSV replacing RSV alienated the core community. Which was a very, very bad move. Thus, bring RSV back as a 4th so the niche community that enjoys MSV can keep their spec, but the actual hunters can get our beloved spec back as well.
With all the changes that I have seen Blizzard make for the worse I do not believe that will ever make a change for the better. Sorry, it is just how I feel. Been watching Shadowlands previews and that alone makes me want to quit. I mean seriously quit this time.
RSV was a lot of fun, during Pandaria I had a fox with blink. I used him to dart into a middle of a mob, tail whip and blink to the next mob. It took a lot of moving and managing but it was a blast.
I haven’t played MM since the end of MoP and I dislike Beast Mastery.
There’s a reason I stopped playing my hunter; I loved Survival. But it was changed to a melee spec in Legion. And I didn’t like MM, but I forced myself to play BM because it was “fun” enough at the time. But when BfA launched I just got bored of the spec, and thus stopped playing my hunter. I did level a hunter to 120 out of sheer will, but I haven’t played her in months.
Why? Because Blizzard thought what a ranged class needed was a melee spec. IF they wanted a melee spec, CREATE A 4TH SPEC! Don’t change a spec just because lol variety!
Am I still salty? Well, since I am also still salty about the removal of Glyph of Nightmares for Warlocks, YES! I don’t play Melee Hunter out of sheer spite, SPITE I say!
Well lets see. If push came to shove. with MSV’s laughably low representation through various forms and levels of content since inception(along with Blizzard LITERALLY saying they designed MSV for non hunters, again, alienating its core community), compared to the overwhelming representation that RSV had during its lifetime, even during periods where its damage was middle of the pack at best…
If push came to shove, sure. I’d be okay with that outcome since a majority is more important than a minority. But we do not want that. The foundation for RSV already exists. They’d just need to bring it back.
And regardless, Shadow Priests are finally going back to their roots after a couple expansions, while still having a talent option to somewhat keep the existing Shadow. Do that with Survival if you don’t want a 4th spec.
Serpent Sting, Black Arrow, Explosive Shot, Arcane Shot, Multi Shot, Kill Shot. Make a talent that changes things. Serpent Sting, Wildfire Bomb, Explosive Trap, Raptor Strike, Carve/Butchery, etc… Personally I’d be okay with something like this if the entire spec was changed to be more inline of what old RSV was, instead of this BM 2.0 with bombs that MSV currently is. But, I’d imagine MSV fans enjoy the BM 2.0 with bombs thematic so I don’t really see this as a viable solution.
Thus, fourth spec. Make everyone happy. MSV fans lose nothing RSV fans gain something. Everyone wins. But, as usual, most MSV fans seem so adamantly scared of this. Which I genuinely don’t understand.
Neither of which even resembles the ranged spec that was removed in the creation of melee survival, you may as well be telling people to go play warlock.
The mechanics and gameplay of MoP WoD ranged survival have been lost, completely, and while I don’t want to see another spec removed from the game (MSV). Those who lost their spec are pretty stranded too.
I really love, how very few MSV fans seem able to read. Again, people who want RSV back are NOT asking for MSV to be removed. If RSV was added as a 4th spec, you’d still have your niche MSV. The only difference being, we’d also have our RSV back, so all these threads could stop and this rift in the hunter community would end. Even though, most MSV players aren’t part of the hunter community because MSV wasn’t designed for hunters from the start. (Ion even said this).
Most people who play MSV can’t grasp that because they never touched hunters prior to the change.
This is one of those situations where people will continue to advocate for it’s return up until it does so, or until the game is shut down.
Others can agree or disagree with such requests, it is what it is. A playstyle we enjoyed was taken away without there actually being a valid reason to do so.
Many players have shown interest in something like Dark Rangers.
I very much get why.
However, Dark Rangers are Hunters as much as DKs are Warriors, if you ask me.
I would never propose a recreation of something previously tied to the hunter class to be realized through another class.
But yeah, this part is very much subjective ofc.

Individual posts may eventually get left behind, but the subject as a whole and the purpose of why we’re doing this, it will continue until a solution is in place. Most likely.
This.
Aye.
Yeah, we’ve seen better days indeed.
Nuff said.
Agreed.
Hopefully we can get them into the mindset that it should be done, going forward.
Wrath survival was my favorite time on my hunter. I had so much fun on her! I’m not a fan of melee survival, but I’m also not looking to take anyone’s fun away who really likes it.
I like the idea of a 4th spec to bring the old survival back
have you tried the PTR?
You can kinda configure it how SV is now, or more ranged.
But Im more interested in MM if they keep it like it is on the PTR currently. Finally its actually fun to play.
If they make Survival ranged again, I hope they hand out level boosts so I can boost another class to replace my hunter. I do not like playing classes that use bows/guns.
