Make sub servers

Herod1, herod2, herod3, etc. you cant take a name that’s already taken on any of those servers and as they die you just merge into herod so you don’t run into name and server name complaints when they do. Woulda been to easy, but nooooooooooo.

Actually not a bad idea as a way of indicating that, once population dies down, the server families will be recombined.

That’s called layering.

not really, no one would be sitting in a queue right now and also wouldn’t have to worry about being on a dead server in the future

Sooo many people keep making the same posts. There is a reason realm population is capped with queues.

Think about phase 2 when layering is gone. Do you want 15000 in queue? Literally that big of queue with 1/10th the realm cap would be 3 day long queues.

Increasing realm caps is a very very bad idea. It would make things far worse in the long run

That would have been a rather genious way of doing things. They should have rethought their launch strategy, it’d be easier to merge servers than trying to convince people to leave servers they’re already on. Blizzard chose the more difficult path.

did you even read that?

This is literally no different from them just adding more layers.

I did. Did you read what I wrote?

H1 H2 and H3 will all be populated to the point that they will never ever merge.

May as well just roll on a different realm. That’s exactly what you’re suggesting, but you’re suggesting a tiny name pool for H2 and H3

Thing is, layering is on the same server, what they’re suggestion is that you Blizz should have seperate servers that will be merged.

yeah I didn’t say increase the caps you retarded fck

no one knows how the actual layering tech is implemented.

This is a good idea. I don’t know about “easy”, but probably easier than telling the people who reserved “Bob” and got super attached to it to reroll on a server their name is definitely already taken on.

this is a solution, it depends a lot on how things are implemented on the backend tho. I could see them being able to do server-a server-b server-n… in a battlegroup as well

Oh yeah? I’m retarded? Don’t be so offended, I’ve had bad ideas too.

When should the realms be merged? What to do with the even bigger queues once merged? Or are we just rolling on separate realms with tiny name pools?

what part of when they die you merge them didn’t you understand? if they don’t die, they don’t merge. BUT the option is there a week from now or a year from now

They won’t die. Each realm is massively overpopulated with layering.

Since they will never ever merge… the choices would be rolling on H2 with no names to pick from, or roll on some other realm that has names. Both options are the same except name pools

This is exactly the problem that layering solves, albeit in an invisible manner.

That’s why they included “layering”.

However, lets just roll with the idea… what happens when the realms remain steady and they can’t combine them? They just become individual realms. What’s the difference between a Herod2 and say Benediction then, nothing, except a ton of the names are would be taken from Herod2.

Have they ever merged two unique servers together? the answer is no and this way you would be rolling on this server knowing that if the population dies youre safe.
