Make warlock soul shards stack.
Thanks!
I’m in favor of this. I don’t think letting soul shards stack negatively affects positive friction in regards to the spirit of the game.
But they might have made them not stack on purpose. They definitely kept the old stack counts for mats on purpose instead of the new counts on retail and the new stack counts would have drastically changed my play experiance by increasing my bag space, limiting the need to run and vendor/ah stuff. This would have speed up leveling and gold farming.
Right, just a quality of life improvement. I haven’t seen anyone opposed to the idea or upset if they made them stack. Even if just stacks of 5 or something. Bag space gets rough #warlockproblems
why don’t you just ask for a soul well? if we’re just pulling things out of our behinds to want to change in classic? it’s about as likely to be implemented. lol.
As a Warlock player, no. It’s one of the few things that balance Warlock in the open world. I’d rather they give us soul-wells and allow Warlocks to create summoning stones as a compromise. Generally speaking you don’t need your bag filled with soul shards outside of end-game activities, but it is extremely tedious farming them before a raid, plus handing out individual cookies is even more tedious.
I agree to the stacking, but only if we also make the change that they are required to go in a soul pouch.
If you’re a demo lock you might have to fill your bags with them before battle grounds. Every time you die you’ll need to summon the demon you want to sac then summon the demon you want to accompany you. In addition to health stones or other uses.
Soul bag idea:
I think that would be reasonable. Even if was like a soulbag with 4 slots and have stacks of 5 sould shards.
I don’t mind filling them for a BG either since I won’t be worried about looting. TBH gathering soulshards was a fine downtime activity and gave an excuse to farm some content I may otherwise have avoided. We get 20 shard bags iirc, and there is always a possibility this will increase. Getting soulshards is even easier now since it doesn’t have to be the killing blow of drain soul.
As much as it is an inconvenience, it has never felt like a major one to me outside of making sure you had enough for raid.
I think with demo changes it will be too much summoning/shards for BG. Would almost rather they made the sac pet resummon in BG or just make the buff persist death in BG.
Not fun running out of stones in a BG.
Soul shards taking up bag space is the cost of doing business for Warlocks. They get dedicated bags that have much higher capacity that are specifically for shards, not unlike how hunters get quivers/ammo pouches. I suspect this was probably to ensure that shards had “weight” associated with them, so that they couldn’t just stack a whole pile without a thought, and you had to actively make sure you generate new ones over the course of a dungeon/raid.
Guys the soul shard bag goes in the reagent bag slot now so you have a separate bag for all you shards that doesn’t take up you inventory space
Exactly. As a Warlock you make the conscious decision how many soul shards you want to carry at a time. If I’m out in the open world I tend to just leave 1-3 in my bags unless I have a soulbag. Going into dungeons, raids, BGs I might hold some extra outside of my soul bag depending on if I feel like I will need them or not. Plus gathering soul shards is so much easier now since you don’t need the killing blow and they have a chance to generate during the channel of soul drain. I think they found a great middle ground that removed the largest pain points of gathering shards, while still keeping the unique warlock mechanic and making it meaningful.
If confirmed, that should cover it.
Now to solve the time delay & mana issue with needing to summon two pets every death in BG as Demo.
If this is true that’s huge. I was looking at my reagent bag and wondering what I would store in it at max level especially since this isn’t retail where you get showered with various reagents for doing end game activities. I never minded being down 1 bag slot anyway, but thats a big W.
There is a legacy talent that lets you ignore mana costs for your “setup” abilities. hopefully this covers demon summoning, but one of the few weaknesses Warlock always had in Vanilla was recovering from death and I think it’s a fair trade off considering how powerful they were historically.
The mana cost setup would surly be nice but not in current classic.
Id like to see the sacrifice buff persist death in BG otherwise im be hanging out in GY way too long. I dont think too huge of an ask or OP but to each their own.
A lot of things that vanilla devs did “on purpose” were bad design from people who’d never actually released a rpg, mmo or otherwise.
I don’t disagree with that but forever is not vanilla. If something has been copied from vanilla into forever the devs thought about it and they’ve had a lot of time to think about it.
Im probably gonna main lock so…yeah ok thats fine. I havent played lock in ages- didnt rhe soul shards used to be purple orbs/globes? like a sphere? or were they always like cut gem looking. When i saw them i was surprsied but am probably just remembering wrong
uh no
inventory management of shards is one of the warlock weaknesses. welcome to classic
get a soul bag
