Not a huge deal but I really think retribution aura damage should count as Paladin dps on the meters to show our true value to the group.
Same thing can be said about thorns for druids.
Discuss.
Can see it now a pally going afk and still beating a boomkin in a drawn out boss fight on the charts
Make it not count if AFK.
Then do warlocks gain an extra 10% damage for every caster in the group? Should the winter’s chill mage gain the damage gained from their crit bonus for the other mages? Should priests PI damage buff count towards their meters? Etc etc etc
Retribution aura being counted towards your meter still doesn’t make ret pallies relevant or valuable, you’d probably gain like 10dps over the course of a raid.
Not if the Boomkin is the one casting improved thorns
If I put much stock in meters outside comparing 2 players of same class, I’d agree. We’d have to add all those buffs, Windfury totem, shadow weaving, and so on.
Now prepare yourself. The Optimizers are about to descend with righteous fury to explain how that’s stupid. That that’s not enough to make up for lost DPS of a “Real” DPS class.
The 4 main terms we’ll hear are: Optimal, Viable, Meme Spec, and Carried.
The Dark Lady SAYETH!: Optimal! Viable! and Theoretical best!
Yes. Meters are stupid if they’re not actually measuring what a class is actually contributing.
They do if you have a brain. You can still look up buff/debuff/aura uptime. Also, all this would do is further lower ret pally stock in raids because it would become even more apparent how little they contribute. And something tells me that guilds carrying rets don’t care much about meters in the first place
Exactly.
Certain pulls have 10 or so non-elites attacking pretty quickly, if they get 4 attacks off on average before dying that’s 40 attacks.
40x30(imp retr aura 2/2) is 1200 damage not counted for the paladin on that pull for those mobs alone. Now count the elites for that pull.
Ah, the good old “everybody already knows this, so there’s no need to actually check it out” argument.
There’s some irony in that statement. Quick, how much DPS does a Ret paladin bring over the course of the whole raid? Not just a given Boss fight, a whole Raid?
No
pretty sure you can change this in your settings
Not as much as any other dps and not as much to outweigh the healing they could be bringing to the raid
So you don’t actually have numbers.
Honestly probably a dps detriment of you’re in a group with dps warriors and rogues since you’ll mostly end up pushing off a more important buff aura
Apparently, you’re lacking . . .
It’s pressing cleanse and casting blessings.
Do you even know why extra low value/unnecessary buff auras would be a dps detriment in a raid situation? You probably shouldn’t be implying I don’t have a brain when you’re arguing about something that any competent raid leader will tell you to turn off immediately.
The buff aura bug was acknowledged but to my knowledge still hasn’t been fixed yet
I didn’t.
You did when you said the meters tell you those numbers if you have a brain and subsequently failed to produce them.
Because of the nonexistent numbers?
Even with ret aura…
Ret pally is still trash dps lol
