I can understand the mechanical reason to remove it and will even enjoy it on my two Voidweaver disc but please let me keep it as an option visually for my Holy-themed one. It’d also be great thematically for the Actual Holy spec too, the graphic/animation already exists so it’s like just assign an item code slap it in priest class hall vendor!

The mechanical reason is a bit of an curiosity anyways, especially for Void Weaver. Inconsistency with Twilight Equilibrium is caused by Disc having too many Shadow spells in their rotation- between MB, Smite becoming Void Blast, and Shadow Covenant turning Penance, Divine Star, Halo into shadow, a holy damage spell was not consistently up to press. And now they take away Purge the Wicked.
I guess it allows Encroaching Shadows/Revel in Darkness and Abyssal Reverie to be taken together.
Been asking this for years.
Most Priests, except Forsaken, should be using Purge the Wicked as Holy, thematically.
I was thinking exactly this yesterday but for Holy. The only offensive shadow spell I use is SW:P as Holy and it doesn’t feel right for my super divine light character. A Purge the Wicked glyph would be perfect.

I wanted to chime in here and agree so much with this.
Visually speaking PtW has been one of my FAVORITE spells as a Disc priest for YEARS.
I completely understand the mechanical changes and even kind of enjoy them but losing the visual is gonna kind of hurt my heart.
I wonder if we could make a PtW glyph carry similar visual toolkit as Penance (drawing from light and void/shadow)?
This isn’t by any means something I’m going to make too much noise over but since Yaadra posted I wanted to add to the confluence.
I wont doubt they are taking it away to give it to the new class coming like they did to priests before
I feel this as well. I LOVE purge the wicked, how it looks, casting it, etc. I’m a disc priest, I want LIGHT spells. I have way too many shadow options as disc, it makes no sense. The animation if I remember right, existed even before PtW! I want my holy lightning bolt BACK.

I’m not sad to see it go. I play Disc liking it more for the shadow aspects… But I defnitely understand people who enjoys all the other way.
It should be a glyph. And while they’re there, make a Glyph of Premonition, so we can have a Shadow version of it.
And a glyph of levitate to remove the sparkles… But I feel we’ve been asking this for so long that the beaten horse is already dust.

I can’t.
They’re trying to make Twilight Equilibrium relevant and that’s so awful to play around that nobody wants to. Atonement windows are too short to be wasting casts on Pain, and Shadow Covenant throws it off.
MAYBE if TE had Expiation baked in it would be strong enough to bother.
Why? It looks awful, was always the worst part of having to pick purge the wicked.
