Power Infusion being castable on other people feels like a flawed design that is negatively impacting the raiding scene at least.
Warcraft logs even modified their website to track how many external buffs a player received to achieve the damage they did. Did we not learn this lesson with innervate and arcane mages? Making that healer only was good for the game as a whole.
Right now in raids you only have so many priests, so the social dynamics around “Well I didn’t get a PI” are not fun to deal with, they are not good for the raiding scene, and for every person that gets the buff and feels good and important, many more don’t and feel at best neutral and at worse neglected.
No other class can so massively effect another players performance and be pressured by the raid to do so. I’m sure priests will also be happier as a whole if they can just keep one of their big cooldowns for themselves.
Can we all agree that at least in patch 9.1 Power Infusion should be a self-only cooldown?

NO! I prefer to give PI to the best player possible and I love how flexible Priest is because of that. I can choose a friendly player for AOE, or another for single. OR if we just have a pumper on the team, I can just use them all of the time. Also, if I really need to I can keep for myself at times. It’s just so great because it is flexible. It needs to stay. Salty players wanting to feel good about parsing don’t matter.

Only if they make ALL shaman totems self-only

But I like getting PI as arcane, it’s fun
People that complain about not getting power infusion cast on them are the problem not the spell itself. If anything it’s helping point out the selfish people faster who are all about me me me and not we we we.

I think the flexibility of the button is part of my problem with it. Let’s be clear Bloodlust/Heroism is 30% Haste buff for 40 seconds on a 10 minute cooldown. Power Infusion is a single target 25% Haste buff for 20 seconds on a 2 minute cooldown.
If the fight lasts for 5 minutes and you use PI on cooldown on hypothetical player A, could receive 3 casts of PI for an uptime on PI of 1 minute. Include another priest he could get 5 casts for 1 minute 40 seconds of haste.
@Arithawn you can blame the player base if you want, I blame what I consider to be the button that is creating the potential for animosity.
The simple fix is let priests keep their cooldown, it helps with balance, and it helps with social elements of the game.

If it became a self only cooldown it would be an irrelevant button imho.
Well, I would disagree, as it is their utility. Just like druids’ innervate. Treat is as an equivalent to hand of freedom/protection/sacrifice by paladins. Game is already pretty mind-numbing when it comes to group-support utilities.
I miss Mark of the Wild.
I miss stacking GBOK GBOM GBOS GBOW (bow if caster bom if phys).
I miss Priest’s triple buff!
I miss Mage’s dampen magic!
The less “Self-only-casts” we have, imho, the better it is for the group content!
i feel weird when i get PI. feel like all eyes are on me.
i’d rather have you cast it on someone else, i’m timid

I was doing a dungeon for the weekly anima quest a while back and priest gave me power infusion. I was like
This is it, you have to do the big damage, they’ll all laugh at you if you don’t do the big damage.

I appreciate your post but I simply don’t think that PI is equivalent to Innervate, nor the pally suite of Freedom/BoP/Sac.
PI can greatly increase damage output.
Innervate can do similar things for HPS (Think a raid with 2 Disc priests and only one gets innervate) but healing is such a different game than damage dealing that is the big difference in my eyes.
And the pally suite of abilities doesn’t increase damage, unless in a niche situation where you could skip an ability to increase uptime, but those are so few and far between.
PI feels like the big outlier to me.
As a priest player PI is incredibly fun to give out and honestly some of our only utility at this point. I can only speak from a mythic plus standpoint because I haven’t raided as disc, but priests have less utility than any of the other healers if you leave PI out of the picture. Disc priests are supposed to be ‘the damage healers’, but honestly pallys do better at that in every way. They triage heal better while doing twice our damage and have not only an immunity, but also a self dr (whereas we have to use a conduit to even get a paltry 10% dr on fade) and tons of utility in the form or bop and bof while also somehow using no mana. The only reason that’s kind of sort of ok is because disc can pi people to make up some of that damage back. That said i do still think disc needs a damage buff. We do some of the least damage of any healer it’s a bit ironic honestly.
The real problem is with logs. A tool exists that helps your group and the best use of the tool should be on the player who can make the most use of it. Mythic+ pugs often don’t have monk, warrior, DH, and mage buffs to “equalize” everyone and thus is natural for at least 1 of the DPS and/or tank to not get their respective damage buff(s), and the meters can reflect that, but what matters is if your team won or not.
Quit trying to take a good tool away from the players because the tryhards, as usual, get all butt hurt about it.
Honestly this game would be so much better off if tryhards and their follower ilk wasn’t in it.
No. Let me cast it on others, I love giving my friends a mini-bloodlusts. Plus if you want it that bad no matter what, there’s a legendary for it.
Wait, do you even play a priest?
I don’t think the spell itself is the issue. It’s the people that have a hissy fit if they don’t get it
Reminds me of the days in Wrath with Dark Pact and Focus Magic… The “giv me buffz plz!!1!” whispers
ugh
And honestly, unless you’re raiding Mythic or pushing the highest of keys, it’s really not going to matter who gets it
I personally think it’s really lame that they brought this back on a community that’s entirely based mostly on streamers and mdi.
In another times this wouldnt matter too much but nowdays where everyone wants to be the alpha it’s really stupid thing to argue.
When my moonkin gets Power Infused, I feel like I won the lottery.
They like me! They really like me!

Seems like your raiding group is toxic. We have only one priest in mine and no one has ever complained about who gets PI, it’s always whoever is dealing the most damage (ST or AoE, depending on boss).
PI should 100% be self-cast only.
Anyone who disagrees has no clue.
