And while you’re at it, make demonic an 8s demon form instead of 6s. then we’ll be fixed in ST and in PVP.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Horrible idea.
With Havoc Demon Hunter having no presence in any competitive field of the game (Castle Nathria race to world first, MDI, or AWC) and being the ONLY class to have no appearance in the Shadowlands AWC at all, along with its general lack of presence on the PVP ladder, it could not be more obvious that the class is under performing and needs a serious buff/rework of its abilities.
A few suggestions that would improve the performance of the class.
- Mortal Rush becoming a baseline effect triggered by our Blade Dance or Throw Glaive instead of Fel Rush, similar to how Wind Walkers Monks have their healing reduction triggered by Rising Sun Kick as a baseline effect. This could also give Throw Glaive a meaningful place in the rotation, as its only purpose now is killing totems and keeping targets in combat due to the ability’s low damage.
- Demon Hunter defense is arguably the greatest weakness of the class. Even with the Darkest Hour legendary, Demon Hunters die too easily. Something Demon Hunters desperately need is the ability to press either Blur, Netherwalk, or Darkness while stunned. Another idea that could work is Netherwalk becoming a baseline ability with a 5 minute cooldown, and the talent reducing the cooldown to 3 minutes and making the ability usable while stunned. This may seem like an overpowered buff, but Demon Hunters NEED a very significant buff in order to be put back on the map.
- Replacing the Unbound Chaos effect with the old Legion Artifact Inner Demons trait. It should still keep the proc from lImmolation Aura. (Activating Immolation Aura causes your next Chaos Strike to unleash your inner demon, causing it to crash into your target and deal Chaos Damage to all nearby enemies.) This could keep the same demonic crash idea and damage as the original Unbound Chaos pre change. And it would be easy to add since the ability was already in the game and worked perfectly fine during Legion.
- Glaive Tempest cooldown increased to either 30 seconds or 1 minute and damage increased to compensate, to make the ability feel more like a valuable cooldown instead of an addition to our basic rotation with its current 16 second cooldown. This will also allow Glaive Tempest to synergies with Fel Eruption/Chaos Nova better.
- First Blood becoming a baseline feature to Blade Dance instead of a talent and being replaced with the old Bloodlet talent from Legion. This is something that the Demon Hunter community has been asking for since Legion, but this change would be tricky and would require additional changes to other talents/abilities in order to not over tune the class (Essence Break would need modifications to start). Havoc DH feels like an incomplete class without First Blood from a PVP prospective, and the specialization could use this kind of bleed uptime to its play style.
These are all simply just ideas. Im not saying that Havoc needs ALL of these ideas added to the class. Any feedback from the community can help and if anyone has any other ideas that can work just add them in the comments. Like and Share to spread awareness.
you have a bunch of suggestions - but i highly disagree with certain aspects of your statements. the reason there is a handful of rank 1 havoc DH’s is because they can survive things. the problem for those higher players (mvq for example made a post asking for these same changes) is sustained damage. in pve, we’re not the first to die in raids, as most havocs are stacking vers/haste. our pvp and pve bursts are solid, our aoe is decent, we can kite fairly consistently (although we reeeally need a disarm type ability, all the other melee’s have a slow) but it’s damage. monk damage BiS legendary is a 33% haste every burst bracket, DH damage BiS legendary is a 30% luck based proc that we can only attempt everytime blade dance is off CD. anyone who’s watched our eye beam CD not drop at all from an entire demonic/chaos strike spam combo knows full well how low 30% can be. luck based procs do not help us when we have to dodge and do mechanics.
despite what so many people say, a DH is no more susceptible than any other class to the PVP burst damage of combustion/xuen burst/wings etc. although yes, i think Netherwalk sucks as a talent option. it’s a terrible immunity. we should be able to cast through it, having the option to get a full eye beam off during a dampening game would be a game changer. or make it baseline to add to our mobility, either way is fine. monks get a 1.5 minute karma.
The way I see it, DH is one small re-vamp away from being an S-tier melee. But i do not believe survivability is the way to buff us. I do not think we deserve it. we can add 25% leech to ourselves. imagine if we had decent sustain and 25% leech? how about 25% leech + hunt? 75% leech. if we didn’t hit like a noodle, we’d have the ability to survive better. our damage is directly correlated to our complete lack of survivability. buff the damage, you buff the class.
Make it 100% proc off of eye beam instead of blade dance.
they were probably against this because demonic already makes DH eye beam burst “powerful” (it doesn’t, we use demonic literally just to keep up). if we connect it to any skill and make it a guaranteed proc, you’d be using it right before/right after eye beam anyway, because you can get the most chaos strikes off then, and they’re automatically buffed.
There are currently 2 Demon hunters in the top 300 spots on the 3v3 ladder… none of which are on page 1.
survivability isn’t the reason they’re not there. they can survive, there’s just no point surviving if you literally can’t peel because you don’t do enough damage outside of your one covenant ability. if you watch mvq’s stream, he doesn’t die any faster than any of his team mates. but outside of his demonic burst, he has to simply kite and wait for them to focus someone else so that he can do some more damage, and then leave hunt on based on the off chance someone hits 50% hp
