So I just had a heart-crushing event earlier today.
I finally got my blacksmith to 300 and got enough dark iron ore to make the armor set for mogging reasons.
I however, didn’t notice until it was too late, that they are soulbound upon creation.
My blacksmith is a mage… (story reasons, he’s nightborne, arcane was his best option in being useful)
I understand how much this could matter, if it was current content. However, Dark Iron Plate hasn’t been current for 14y.
Make all crafted legacy armour bound on equip, please!
Generally what players would do is if they got a bad roll , that item could be Bis for their alt or other players and sell it off.
They don’t want you to do this anymore and would rather have you vendor or salvage it . This single decision increases everyone’s time played metrics . You are spending more time getting your Bis through rng crafting and others are spending more time leveling the profession or playing the rng game in dungeon / raid for BIS.
Blizzard has Brilliant people but all in the wrong sections .
There’s a couple Mail blacksmithing recipes that are also soulbound. They look nice, but I doubt I’ll burn the time to get them crafted on a Mail wearer.
The effort in getting dark iron gear means you’d be way out-leveled for them to ever be useful for you once you’re able to make them…
My request isn’t just for me, obviously. Right now the only profession worth having seems to be alchemy, if you want to make money, and only if you get in the new patches early on. This would make multiple crafts worth having, even though mogs might be hard to sell.
You aren’t talking just about dark iron gear though. You are talking about all gear and just because that gear isn’t important to you leveling up, doesn’t mean this wouldn’t affect others.
They made professions so easy to do just go lvl up a bs on a plate character like a normal person would.
So much potential to have players revisit old zones if they were to introduce a crafting system that major crafted items like boogie-woogie-cloth or ingots named bfa-ingot… etc to require past expansion level mats to go towards the next tier up.
IE, 1 x BFA craft item requires 2 or 3 legion ingots / cloth
then that legion ingot changed to require WoD Ingots / Cloth
Mists? hell yeah lets go back to mists too with that.
I did notice though the Ghost iron ore in mists was plentiful and comparing with Cata, mining in mist was a breeze. For something like that to happen then the lower mats would need changing.
I think we’re talking at cross purposes. I use that for mog gear too. Its great. However the argument being made was that people still used the gear for levelling as crafted. That is what’s crazy. Most Outland greens, never mind blues, will out-power this stuff by many orders of magnitude.
Agreed, this is a really good idea. The best one I have seen in forums. People who have crafting and have sought out old patterns should be able to make this apart of their gaming experience and does not impact anyone.
I would re level leatherworking again and farm for those Fel Scales again if it meant progression.
I like to farm/grind something that is both useful and can be traded between alts and other players. This to me is what should be in an mmo, instead the focus is on some artifact? Who wants to grind out those again and again?
Legion I did that and cool, but progress could be inside the crafting. Daily cooking crafting quests in Mists, Valley of four winds was epic and I don’t know why it was changed as it was close to perfect.
This character is a tailor. i feel your pain OP. I am currently leveling a VE warlock. In tailoring. It is going to be a long road to get all the way up to draenor. I will not be touching enchanting on another character, horrible profession, takes forever to level and I have never made any money on it.
