I loved Mount Mania from the anniversary event and wish we had it weekly or monthly. It made me seek out some cool mounts that were easy to obtain and was just a fun activity.
There could be a reward for participating like some tokens towards a specific mount, either created specifically for the event, or towards some easier mounts to get in the game.
I know I could just scroll my “uncollected” mounts frame, but is not nearly as fun.
I think it would be cool to have this during holiday events. Or make it part of the monthly trading post.
But, yes…we should have this more often.

I agree, I really enjoyed it! I think it would be a cool little event like the trial of style that crops up a couple times a year! could tie more mounts to it like the style rewards tokens for further transmog
The flex on some of the mounts was fun.
I also feel like a dork saying this, but when the announcer says 'for our next mount, we have…" I prance around on my mount in excitement for the next mount.

As long as the mount selection wouldn’t blatantly prioritize cash shop or TCG mounts, I’m for this. There were numerous occasions I searched for mounts in question, and despite using no filters in my collections tab, the mounts weren’t found. That happened too often, and I think is a hallmark of a cash shop mount. For instance, if you don’t have it, search for Grizzly Hills Packmaster. It won’t show up in the list.
That’s true it happened to me too. Couldn’t figure out why certain mounts weren’t searchable. No cash shop mounts then, or some disclaimer.
I would love if there was a toy that would summon a holographic version of the NPC who did mount mania. I generally don’t like mount-offs, but the completely RNG nature of mount mania made it a lot of fun for me.

It could easily be a permanent fixture like Trial of Style is.
The rewards for winners and runners-up could be mount-related toys, like the fireworks that go off whenever you jump, or mount equipment stuff.
Maybe even a mount itself? But I’d like to make it more ‘fair’ and not just have the top 0.1% of collectors be winners lol.
Otherwise it’d be dead in the water to anyone else.
Could be a participation trophy from having done it enough times, maybe?
Thats what I’m thinking, some sort of participation tokens without rewarding the people with a zillion mounts TOO much. It could also be a mount just for the event, spaced out over several weeks. With extra customizations for more event participation.
I’ve seen a lot of love for the mount mania activity. I’m assuming people like to show off their hard earned collections.
But then I get confused when I see posts complaining that certain mounts are too hard to get or shouldn’t be time restricted/unobtainable or need a “bad luck” prevention.
Isn’t that what makes alot of these mounts special to see?
Most of the MoP mounts became alot less special to see since remix when they were given away.
Maybe they could add to the scoring system. Two points if you have the exact mount and one point if you have a mount of the same family but not the exact one.
That would allow someone who collects but hasn’t done all the exclusive ones to still have a chance.
While there are definitely dedicated mount collectors (people in the top 1% of mount collectors let’s say) who think that the rarity / “prestige” of their mount is why they enjoy it, for the most part, at least in mount collection discords I’m in, dedicated mount collectors would prefer mounts to be more accessible. The number of people I saw complain about MoP mounts being on vendors was far smaller than the number of people I saw who thought it was a good thing. A lot of these dedicated mount collectors would be happy if things like Challenge Mode mounts, Glad mounts, KSM mounts, etc, were never removed from the ability to obtain them… even the ones who have them already. They’d also be happier of things like TCG mounts were more readily available.
Mount Mania, for me, was not about my ability to flex my mounts. I usually find mount offs pretty silly in fact cause the whole goal is to prove you have something someone else doesn’t, and you can just compare your collections on Simple Armory or Data For Azeroth and save everyone a bunch of time, if that’s your goal. I liked it for the fact that it was unbiased; didn’t value rare/unobtainable mounts over anything else; and because for me I wasn’t competing with the other people around me, I was competing with the person on stage that I couldn’t beat, only tie at best.
That would be cool but I would like an in game button to click for a mount instead of having to go through my mount list or get a weakaura for it during a MM activity.
Ok but how is this event fun for someone with a measly 100 mounts? Can’t feel great to come do this thing only to get dunked on for 5 minutes.
For that matter how is it fun for the person with 900 mounts? It’s not like the thing is gonna pit my Spelltome against someone else’s Soundless, drawing oohs from the crowd at what’s gonna be the tiebreaker. The selection is random based on what a random person participating has, extreme rares don’t (and shouldn’t) come up a lot.
There can’t be a reward for winning, that’s gross for everyone involved, so what’s going to draw a crowd together to watch this?
