I get it, we all love zooming from point A to point B playing connect the dots on our minimap but really whats the point of continuing to have ground mounts other then for Battlegrounds?
At this point they shouldn’t even drop if Blizzard isn’t going to do anything with them. Hell they could make Warmode Ground Mount only to keep the content engaging and actually allow for open world pvp.
Thats just one Idea… Perhaps there can be an incentive to using a ground mount in the open world that gives you a magic find buff for items you can only detect with your ground mount… Who knows… But really I see no point in designing a world with ground mounts in mind if flying at Mech 10 is the new norm.
It really looks silly seeing NPC’s walkign around with horse and buggy while we come ramming into there town at the speed of light… Seriously What even is this?
I never really had a problem with pathfinder keeping us on the ground in the past, except for a few zones, it was nice to use ground mounts a lot.
That said, I’m super happy with skyriding on a ton of mounts now. I still explore, ride ground mounts, stop down for caves or areas of interest, but overall I love seeing the zones from above, they look pretty amazing.
I keep mounts on my right side 3-4 action bars, and a the first few bottom rows are ground mounts I use often, in towns, while questing close together etc. Lots more skyriding/flying mounts though, love them.
If you kill 10 people in a row without dying you can’t fly in warmode anymore. I’ve done it a few times, you have to run around on the ground while you’re marked on the enemies map; they then make a group to hunt you down and usually you get like 3-10 more kills from that.
You sound like you should be pvping.
Or you know, join a RP server and just ride on the ground until you need to fly.
Like many of us, I use a macro for mounts, nomod = a flyer, mod:shift = a ground mount… one button. but for the record, I’d like to see the ability to customize all the mounts on the Rostrum thing, not just the dragonriding ones. Also, a per mount toggle for steady vs dragonriding flight would be a lot more convenient than a 5sec cast to switch them all… but that’s just me being picky, lol
so you’re saying ground mounts have become the pennies of cash? I like pennies. I count them everyday because I’m so rich I have nothing but free time. Which is why I ride my ground mount all over the world when it’s possible. I enjoy the rich, leisurely lifestyle it, and pennies, provide. So keep the penny (and ground mount) cause I like shiny things.
I wouldn’t hold your breath for such a feature. There are hundreds of mounts in this game and the amount of work required to make them all customisable would be unrealistic.
The dragonriding and dirigible mounts were specifically designed for the Rostrum. Your best bet is to wait for Blizz to add more varied custom mount types in future expansions.
There are people who need to be on the ground or want to be.
I spent half my time on the ground while leveling. It’s nice to have the choice.
I also use ground mounts in Dornogal. I see a lot of them there.
I still to this day am bitter that they ignored all of us Druids who came up with other options back in the day so we weren’t stuck with auto travel. They even said they’d work on it. They didn’t.
There was nothing wrong with allowing a pull out bar like Mages have for portals.
