Make greater fade NON shadow

Fade and Greater Fade should not be attached to a school of magic.

Allow us to Fade/Greater Fade even when shadow school locked.

Thanks

I usually find the magic schools a little arbitrary…

But I mean, Fading Out from the light seems uniquely shadow to my mind.

But seriously though since it has morphed from a threat management tool to an off-GCD defensive I think you could argue it should be treated as a physical ability instead of a spell, similarly to Astral Shift, e.g.

One counterspell and the only spell we can cast as spriests is power word shield… We should be able to at least Fade…

Fade can be seen as “Astral” xD

“Fading” into the “shadows”

I would think “Fade” is more akin to the “Shadow” side of “Priest” as imo its like becoming a shadow or unseen or a spirit / ghost.

So it makes sense to be tied to the “Shadow” school.

This is why imo we should have our defensive instant dispel magic back as that can be used when locked out of shadow. This is also why its good to have Flash Heal back instead of only having Shadow Mend because once again, you have something else you can cast while you wait for Shadow spell school to become available again.

Or we could get flash heal back to its old strength so if we get kicked on shadow we could heal ourselves.

When did we become Paladins? lol

Honestly I think Shadowform should be treated more like Druid shifts.

Casting a spell out of form automatically brings you out, but you have to manually get back in (or void erupt).

PW: Shield will be substantially buffed, so if you’re kicked on your shadow school you can instant-cast it. Of course, you’d still be weak to a dispel, but PVP is all about counterplay.

I mean, I don’t think we know that yet, do we? Or if the buff to shield with a CD back extends beyond disc?

Remember also that they have design goals for HW: Life and Void Shift and they added in an auto-shield at low health talent too. The combination of all of that is starting to sound a little over the top even to me, though Lord knows priests have needed survival tools.

That’s what I got from their update while reading this:

Our aim is to allow for individual Power Word: Shield casts for each spec to be more valuable as well as reducing frustration surrounding the Weakened Soul debuff.

It’s the “for each spec” language that makes me think this is the direction they are going in.

From the blue…

The primary benefactor will not surprisingly be Discipline. I think that is why it was included as part of the Discipline note. But its clear that they want Power Word: Shield to be a “Good” button to press regardless of spec.

That would make the self-shielding DPS talents make a tiny bit more sense, if shields weren’t made of paper mache.

Of course our covenants also provide plenty of passive buffs to self-healing and survival as it is now so maybe all of this is balanceable. Void shift in particular will be unbelievably cool to play with.

Talent is busted as it is. You should be punished for being locked on Shadow.

The problem is that almost no other class is so hard locked.

Silence to a shadow priest is almost like a stun. Cant do anything but Power Word Shield and the Covenant skill (depending which)
