Make Goblins Neutral

I would like for Blizzard to make Goblins a neutral faction race just like Pandaren. I don’t see the harm in this as Goblins aren’t a major factor in players overwhelming playing as Horde. It seems like the Alliance need all of the help they can get at the moment and I for one would only play as Alliance if Goblins were available to them.

Fun fact. Previous Blizz lead game dev stated they regretted making pandaren a neutral race and that they’d never do it again. Fast forward to 9.1.5 and blood elves are basically a neutral race now.

Goblin always made more sense as a neutral faction in the first place.

This is true, another fun fact, goblins were originally the race planned for the alliance instead of gnomes back in vanilla. You can still find a goblin NPC in stormwind.

It does seem like any other cartel could join the alliance, However that would imply another race trade. Unless we discover other gnomes for the horde I doubt it’d happen.

To be fair, they didn’t seem to do it willingly. Players wouldn’t stop griping about it and Blizz was gradually forced into it. First skin colors and now hair colors. And now people are still asking for more high elf stuff. But you can tell Blizz still doesn’t really want to. Years of peer pressure is what got them to crack.

But gnomes and goblins on the same side is a recipe for disaster.

The Steamwheedle tried to cash in with the old horde during it’s invasion of Azeroth and because of that it opened itself up as a target as well when the Horde fractured. After the war the goblin cartels all committed to neutrality so they can avoid being targeted and sell to as many people as possible.

Only reason Bilgewater joined the Horde is because Double chin was about to get beat down if he didn’t agree to join Thrall.

Adding goblins instead of the Vampire elves was a huge mistake and a horrible oversight.

Say that again I dare you!

The alliance tried to murder them because “no witnesses” to the fact that they had Thrall captured.

Pretty good reason for the cartel you’re in to go Horde and stay Horde.

Races that were shafted in Pandaria:

  • Hozen
  • Jinyu
  • Saurok
  • Klaxxi

Although the Klaxxi and Hozen prove difficult to lay armor over, they are both races that would have been really cool options versus the Pandaren. Although I don’t personally hate Pandaren, it is a shame that there are so many old World of Warcraft races that have seemingly just been forgot about in terms of playable options.

Ogres and Naga come to mind.

I’unno. Goblins are pretty niche. I mean, yeah, I’m a fan and my Warlock is one, but I absolutely and readily accept they’re going to be low on the priority list. I would be surprised to see any further involvement or development for them for a while… at least until we can dig up where ever the hell Gallywix blubbered off too.

That said, if a race has an argument for neutrality… Goblins pretty much have the strongest one. They’re motivated by profit - by gains you can count and hold. “Honor” and “Glory” and “Loyalty” can’t be. If the Alliance makes them a better offer, or just simply shows it’s a better market… yeah, it’s infested with gnomes, but how better to prove yourself the greater force of innovation by playing and beating them at their own game on their own turf?

Just give me my damn Tuskarr Blizzard

Fun Fact: Blizzard never actually said this at all. Ghostcrawler did as his/her personal opinion, and only after they had left Blizzard.

(Edit): Went looking for the quote itself since I never saw it. The tweet no longer exists, but the one timestamp I found on reddit states it was made in July 2013, and he announced he was leaving Blizzard in November 2013 according to his wikipedia. Regardless, it was still his opinion, not a statement made on behalf of Blizzard.

They should have given Jinyu to alliance and just made the Hozen a varient of Kul’tirans and given that to horde. Pandas should never have been a playable race. How many panda players you see in-game? 3 per month if that? And they’re usually leveling toons who don’t make it passed 40.

No.

Having faction/race/class distinctions adds complexity, variety and flavor to the game.

If they want to up Alliance numbers, they can add real, not pretend, High Elves.

They do… but they also seem like a really poor fit with the Alliance as well.

I actually have a Pandaren that I play regularly, but I do get your point. The difficulty there is that Mechagnomes and Kul Tiran are within the same boat in terms of races that really aren’t played all that much.

I don’t have a problem with Pandaren being playable, but I want a damn aquatic based race, already. Naga are my favorite race in the game and it seems like they will never be playable, unfortunately, so Jinyu are my close second. That, or Gilblins, which both appeared in BfA and were, once again, shafted by the Mechagnome and Vulpera.

Not to mention the Sethrak and Vrykul.

Fake or not, that wouldn’t help the population. Neither would goblins.

The least the Alliance needs right now it’s people who are interested in aesthetics. Instead, you need people willing to get groups going, since the current population seems more occupied asking for a Horde race, than getting end game content done.

We never had a chance to play sneks, alas. Their heads are just not workable. Ever wonder why 99% of worgen players hide their helms? And that’s on a race where at least some effort was made to mold helms onto.
