Make gear Bind on Account until equipped?

Merely a suggestion, maybe not all gear, maybe just gear obtained from WQs and emissary chests. Gear drops are the absolute most frustrating thing for me with BFA. One alt got 3 pants on the same day, all of the same ilevel, neither of them an upgrade yet I had other slots were a piece of the same ilevel would have been a upgrade for. Two of the pants were the exact same piece of gear.

Agreed. Bind on Pickup should just be deprecated, with all pieces swapped to Bind on Account instead.

It’s also a problem with crafting, which is frustrating for transmog in old content (have to have a leather wearing leatherworker to learn Burning Crusade appearances) and taxing on professions in current content.

gah not sure why re-logging in to the forum changed me to a random toon I dont use, it wouldnt let me post until I logged out and re-authenticated. Yeah the bind on pickup on crafted gear really irked me. The best reason to craft gear is to give it to your alts to level up in. but crafted gear has been scuffed for many expansions now since they usually either outlevel it or get better gear shortly after equipping the crafted gear

While I understand why stuff is bound to a character in terms of game play, the entire concept of soulbound makes no sense. Like why can’t I give a piece of gear to a player, but can give it to a npc (vendor)

Honestly, with how available and accessible gear is currently in the game I don’t see why this would be necessary.
The game already gives you a million different ways to earn gear, including time-gated better than average gear from a lot of different sources.

The new Benthic gear gives you more than what you are asking for. BoA and can upgrade up to 430 which is past the cap for the current patch. If that’s not enough, I’m not sure what I can say.

My impression of this was similar to the scrapper deal. It’s more of them paying you for the materials or something.

Also how did you manage to get that name? Damn.

I understand maybe the concept of being able to unlock xmogs for any piece of equipment you pick up, but not being able to freely trade any gear between characters.

What’s the point of playing an alt if your main can completely gear it up?

With regards to world quests, it’s like baleful tokens (and whatever they were called in Warlords). Yeah, they’re not as good as current gear, but you acquire them anyway through the natural course of play with your main. They let you skip to an iLvL baseline on your alts (allowing you to start sooner into endgame content) and they also help fill in your wardrobe for transmog purposes.

But that’s exactly what Benthic gear is in 8.2 PLUS that is able to be upgraded to be better than any gear currently available in game.
Why do we also need ALL WQ rewards able to be traded as well?

All of those quests are available to those other characters anyway, all people are proposing is to remove the need to scale rewards and instead just to jump straight to the top.

Considering all the concessions this game has given to players who only want to do trivial content why do we need more?

The suggestions are literally just “how can I reduce available content for my characters”

No. Dollars to donuts, I would bet you that if this change were to happen, blizzard would reflectively generate some other restriction (at the very least, expensive mailing of items) or said items would be even more worthless than the stuff we get now.

Blizzard has a set path at how far or behind they’ll allow players these days. As a quick and dirty example 30/100 is 30% (that’s where we are), but your said change would put us at 300/1000 or even 3000/10000 (both of which are still 30% in blizzard’s eyes).

Not to mention that I personally feel like the overall “volume” of loot has actually decreased since the forced personal loot of bfa. You can’t complain now that a certain loot option gives more or less since there exists no other metric to compare it against now (sort of like a 1984 memory hole business going on here).

So no. If anything we should be advocating for an openness of their rng system to get more eyes on how it operates. And along with UI facing drop percentages and titanforging/socket/tertiary probabilities.

Ah, I wasn’t aware that was happening, I haven’t seen a lot of news about the specific features of 8.2.

It’d still be nice for crafting, though. It’s not like crafted gear is competitive with raid gear, since you’re always beyond it by the time you can make it.

I don’t think we need to invalidate lower-middling forms of content any further than we already have by allowing peoples’ mains to funnel high end gear to their alts instead of actually playing the alts.

I mean, really, allowing such defeats most of the point of making an alt in the first place unless it’s one purpose is to pop into a specific mythic raid fight or something to provide a specific form of utility. And the people who care enough to do that nonsense already keep up on those alts just fine.

So players with e.g. five max-level toons would get 5x the gear chances on their main vs. someone who has one…Sounds like all the problems of split raiding on steroids.

Yeah, crafting is largely made irrelevant by the jumps in ilvl between patches (especially when boosting WQ rewards) and of course the lack of availability of high level pieces that are not BoP.

Realistically 8.1 and also 8.2 should have introduced a new set of BoE rares that were more in line with the current rewards, using small amounts of the new raid currency to craft them.

To be honest I would support being able to craft decent items from professions over the current WQQ/embassy design granting that gear.

Realistically it would be really bad especially if you had multiple characters that shared armour types. You would boost your alts to the max ilvl they need to get the best rewards, and then you could just fish for rewards on the characters.

Get a nice TF piece? Funnel them to your main, send back the non-TF piece if you need it for your alt.
Essentially you would simply get X rolls for TF/sockets on every reward and then could share it out as you saw fit.
