Make Elemental's mastery viable

What would it take to be viable? Would it just need more damage, maelstrom, or both? Maybe more abilities to benefit from it at current or lower numbers. It is my favorite mastery in the game and I really wish there were viable builds for it. I feel like blizzard doesn’t do enough small tuning to bring unused stuff to viability other a period of time.

Make overloads capable of overloading with diminishing returns. Also make it so guaranteed overloads don’t overwrite base chance to overload.

Boom, unlimited power.

Everything needs to be able to Overload.

Make our spenders (Earth shock and Earthquake) overload with maybe 50% effectiveness for balance. Get rid of the 33% mastery modifier on chain lightning that makes it 1/3 as effective.

elemental shaman was fine until shaowlands pre patch and what did they do nerf lava surge by 8% it made elemental unplayable for me so i switched classes.also it doesnt help that lava burst hits like a wet noodle and the only thing blizzard buffed was elementals aoe.

if you want to fix elemental shaman blizzard needs to buff lava burst, buff lava surge and up elemental overload.

that would be too much. LvB is one of those abilities that a slight tweak takes it from mediocre to godly. If I switch to necrolord with echoing shock and ES/LVB leggo, i can pop off 6+ Lvb/overloads in 2 globals, that’s not bad. It’s just all small numbers at once.

thats kind of terrible vs players that have 90k hp.

  1. The approach where mastery also increases the damage of the abilities in question in addition to the proc rate of mastery ie: % chance to deal % damage of the previous spell instead of base 85%. Pro big pve scaling, con pvp cheese potential. Bonus points for going above 100% means you can fire multiple.
  2. extra line at the end with a simple: “Your maelstrom spenders deal % more damage”.
  3. A complete rework into something that isn’t not-multistrike.

This makes me feel like I don’t understand our Mastery the way I thought I did.

Say what?
