Make Dracthyr visage form permanent

What I’ve learned about most people who hate the new things is that they don’t spend any time learning about said new things, doing quests or experiencing the lore. They see something they don’t like and get tunnel vision instead of going “yeah, I didn’t like that part but this other part was great”.

Imagine that we are playing a video game with a variety of classes, each of which play in a unique manner from the others. How is it hard to accept that I want to play a class inspite of whatever terrible lore was put into it’s conception? Evoker is not just mage, and if it was then people would be hating on it for that reason.

No, evoker is a unique experience that is locked behind a crappy lizard race. I don’t care what the “lore” says. Blizzard just made the lore up last expansions, pulled completely out of their bum. And you know what? It’s their story, completely under their control. If your only reasons for race locking the class behind a crappy race is because you choose to tell a terrible story, then write a better one! The lore surrounding evoker is in no way sacrosanct, so if blizz isn’t going to fix the garbage race, then at least fix the class.

Because it fits with the dragon race in the game. They are in visage majority of the time until they Dragon out. That is the fantasy I wanted and I got it. Also helps when I hover and start breathing out my laser, I feel like Marcus Corvinus from Underworld 2.

Mortal form not in combat, in combat I am full out dragon/ vampire/lycan

But I agree, while in combat as an evoker, you dragon out.

Glad we heard your opinion, I happily disagree with it.

Cool story, bro.

Or maybe Blizz likes the story the way it is. Maybe all the writers and artists who put so much time into it feel proud of their work. I doubt you will convince them by insulting them. Either way, it’s not me you need to convince. But if it was me, I’d keep it mostly the way it is. Except I’d give players more options on their visage form, OUT of combat.

You asked why I would want to play evoker when I could just play mage or something else not Dracthyr locked and I told you. I am not trying to convince you of anything.

If they are so proud of their crappy lizards, then okay! Don’t lock the class behind it, because the race is far less than universally beloved and the class designers hard work is now wasted because Dracthyr drives some players away with it’s mediocrity, players that would otherwise enjoy the class. Not to mention how each evoker tier set is very much wasted on the crap race, despite being something that looks very good and I imagined was worked on by designers that also feel proud their work.

Tl:dr Evoker deserves better than being wasted on Dracthyr

I just waiting for my gnome visage.

Ditto. I love them. I play with the Chosen Identity, so I get plenty of screen time with my Visage form. I like my dragon form, and I like that when I’m in combat, I look like a dragon. I like being in dragon form for flight. I mean…the character is a dragonkin, and we already have the ability to be in Visage most of the time.

The only time that dragon form doesn’t drop automatically out of combat is after hover…because obviously hover requires wings.

well…not always. In combat, my mage still pops into Drakthyr form. It’s very inconsistent.

But when out of combat, Visage is automatic with Chosen Identity.

In Evoker, when you use a dragon-only ability (like Hover) out of combat, it will pop you into Drakthyr form, as well.

Whole lotta folks in here forgetting that through the entirety of WoW history there’s a whooooooooole lotta visage formed NPC’s that fight, act, and cast without changing into a dragon.

One of the two has to change. Either people need to be able to opt into Visage mode (animations already exist for this to happen) - or they need to fix the transmog capabilites of Dracthyr.

as is, Spyro mode is just ugly and looks like a meme.

The only thing that needs to be removed is the elf visage and that’s it. I’ll be a lot more happier knowing that we have an actual race that doesn’t need the elf visage.

Yes.

Racials
We get the double jump, which is amazeballs, and we get Wing Buffet, which is an AoE knockback/interrupt. Also amazeballs.

Customizations
It’s not even close. Just the hair: texture, colors, two-tone highlights, and decorative options alone make them a standout from the humans. In addition, the faces are quite different, you have better piercing options, eyebrow options, and even eye color options.

There is no comparison between these and the human models. The Visage form customization is what the Stormwind Human options SHOULD have been in the SL updates. Drakthyr visage might be on the same skeleton as the humans, but they are not the same.

I can’t speak to the male Belf visage form because I have never rolled one or taken the time to look at them.

I mean, the upside to doing that is they can delete all the evoker tier set models from the game! Nevermind the fact that they look great, some of the best looking tier sets. Why waste anymore dev time on the crappy gecko race?

You quoted me without bothering to look at who I was responding to.

I know racials are different but in this case, when it comes to looks which is what this person is complaining about, is there any difference between a human and worgen? The answer is “no.”

I put “visage” in quotations because I was talking to a worgen.

sorry…it didn’t show your post there as a reply. I’m assuming, now that you mention it, that it was to the Worgen guy being aggressively hostile, but /shrug.

I wasn’t being mean. I was simply answering what I assumed was a question.

The visages also throw me because I feel like the “dragon take a human form to make other people feel at ease” makes more sense alliance-side than they do horde.

Like, despite the number of people that play them, the horde’s elves are still supposed to be only a small slice of the faction. And they don’t ally with humans at all. They’re the horde’s “monsters”. So I feel a horde dracthyr using a visage sends the opposite message because the perception of what’s normal and abnormal are largely inverted.

I feel the intro reflects that well as the horde more readily accepts the dracthyr than the alliance do, but the visage part becomes dissonant when you’re told straight up how your patron dragon is comfortable looking like a tauren, while your own ability to pass is much more of a failure while still treated as a boon.

I feel like Dracthyr human form is unique enough to warrant a permanent human-ish form even when in combat.

I also feel like other creatures with visage forms cast their abilities in their human-ish form just fine… so it’s kind of strange that Dracthyr can’t do it, especially when considering that’s literally what they were created to do.

My bet is that Blizzard already knows it’s an issue and they’re going to fix it, but they’ll wait for a content lull and use that fix for engagement metrics.

Blizzard will not let me post links after 20 years of having an account so ya I tried my best to get both looks to feel sameish. Its not perfect but it works.

Mate, the horde are still people and not monsters and yes, some do fear dragonkins. So yeah, a more pretty visage would be used. Whole reason ebyssisn uses one.
