To those saying to play an elf if you want visage only – drakthyr visage is not an elf and not a human; they have horns and scales.
The system is fine as is. Some spells like soar, should force dragonoid form, since it uses wings. I think this makes total sense. While i mainly play in visage, i do like to play in drakthyr form as well.
They should put your chosen form into the forum avatar and character screen as well, since mogs are a big part of the game for many players.

IMO they should of just had players choose what visage they want out of the current races available, then do things like the Worgan 4 forms. They could of just made new whole body skins for those races specifically for Dracthyr (for scales and stuff) and scaled back customizing on that on the visage form. At least then armor would possibly be a possible than what it is now with barber shop armor on dragon forms

Why did you make a Worgen then? The Worgen curse changes Worgen not only on a physical level but a spiritual one as well. When you die as a Worgen you don’t revert to a human form. Your ghost is not a human ghost.

At this point, I don’t care if they ever fix this race’s garbage issues. Adding permanent visage to all nonvokers gives a lot of credence to the idea they would rather give up on Dracthyr rather than give the race basic functionality like transmog or actual armor. And you know? That’s fine. Give me the option to play evoker as literally any other race and I will never think about Dracthyr again. The real crappy part about all of this is having a fun and unique class experience buried under all the trash that is Dracthyr.

Why is reading comprehension so INCREDIBLY difficult for some WoW players? As is stands, I rarely return to visage form when I drop combat in battlegrounds, or return to it between shuffle rounds, or many other examples where I should, according to the text of the Chosen Identity ability.
I really like both forms. I’ll switch them in and out as I quest, and my non visage form looks awesome. I was really happy with it. I’m currently leveling an evoker and my only issue is kind of the opposite of OP. I’ll shift back to visage so fast or sometimes just stay in visage during combat. But it’s not that big of deal. I think both forms are cool.

No one is making you play that class. I mean, come on - it’s a class specifically designed around being a dragon. If you don’t like being a dragon, why play it?
I think the intent is that Drachthyr would be played similar to the way we see Dragon NPCs behave, or like Worgen. They use visage form to interact more easily with other races, but switch to dragon form in combat.

The whole class is built around being a dragon. Why would they allow other races to be one? And why are you so stuck on playing an evoker if you don’t like the idea behind the class? Anything an evoker can do, you can also do on some other class you actually like.

Believe they referring to the visage race options, like in DF there was a dragon who’s visage was a Vulpera iirc.
OH! I absolutely support giving us more visage options for out of combat. Apologies if I misunderstood someone.
My thing is just having abilities fit the shared fantasy Blizz has established. So special Worgen abilities are done in wolf form, and special dragon abilities are done in dragon form, etc. But yeah, Drachthyr should be able to have visage forms of any playable race.

I mean, barely anyone seems to play it outside of Aug and that’s more because Aug is overpowered and does something no other class can. Least played class by a mile, and the awful race restriction is a large part of that.
We could have had a class and race people actually wanted, but no. Stuck with trash instead.
It was a dragon expansion. They gave us a new playable race of dragon super-soldiers with good lore behind it. You can tell they also spent a great deal of time on the customizations. I understand many players want changes, and I would support tweaks (not like it’s up to either of us lol) like letting different armor show… I also understand you think it’s trash, but I think they’re pretty cool and appreciate the creative effort that went into them.

Honestly I’m pro-visage form but even I find someone wanting the desire to use evoker abilities outside of Dractyhr form baffling. It’s like wanting the option to use melee abilities as a warrior without having a weapon equipped.

No… Did you not watch any of the cinematics, or read any of the quests? Did you “hang out and listen” to any of the Drachthyr processing their situation? There was a lot of lore. An entire raid. Different Drachthyr reacting to their plight differently and taking different paths. Reconciliation. New friendships forged. There was even an entire quest line dedicated to Drachthyr (Emberthal) thinking about their visage form, and this quest line led you to check in with many other magical races (Worgen, DHs, DKs…) about how they were coping with their situations.

It’s like wanting to use Worgen wolf abilities while not a wolf. Or druid bear abilities without being in bear form.

What do you mean no? Did you miss the entire raid retconning Neltharion to be always evil by conducting experiments on living begins? That’s the dracthyr’s origin: Neltharion being an evil mad scientist.
Neltharion was supposed to be good until he was driven insane. Instead now he’s just always been evil.
