Make cyphers usefull please

Cyphers of the first ones are the main reward for dailies (not WQ), treasures, rares; and while researching all the stuff, that’s fun. But after that, they feel worthless. Night fae can buy a soul, legitimately cool. A pet, ok. But then it’s just the olea cache and you spend 700 cyphers and get 380 gold and like 10 genesis motes, are you serious? Is that a mistake? It could literally give 10 times that amount and not be too much.

I would live to see a vendor where you could buy genesis motes, glimmers, and lattices for cyphers. Make the glimmers and lattices expensive, I don’t care but give us something. Genesis motes are insanely scarce for no reason. I want to be able to craft these mounts and pets before I can’t stand looking at Zereth Mortis anymore.

Yeah they mucked that up pretty badly. I hope they change it soon.

it’s just a research currency, not everything needs to have multiple purposes.

These systems aren’t put in there because they’re fun to play. They’re a lot of fun to design. Just look at the gleam in the dev’s eyes when he describes it in an interview. No mention of it being fun to play, just about it being fun to design.

that’s what happens when your entire systems/rewards team is full of theorycrafters i guess :frowning:

People complained that stuff you could buy in Korthia was useful, because they “had” to do Korthia.

So with Zereth Mortis, Blizzard deliberately made a zone that was completely pointless.

The loot box for 700 cyphers is meant to be a gamble to dump your extra cyphers in once you’ve gotten full research/pet/toy/whatever.

I’ve gotten some cosmetic weapons from it, progenitor essentia, lattice, and other protoform materials besides the genesis motes.

Like another poster said, I think Blizzard designed the ZM rewards with the intention of not feeling compelled to stay in the zone and farm 24/7 because you feel like you’d be missing out on some sort of power gain if you didn’t.

You couldn’t 24/7 Korthia, though, you ran into heavily diminishing returns after about 45 minutes because of the daily caps on everything.

But even that was too much for the “I just want to subscribe and complain and do dungeons, I don’t actually want to play World of Warcraft” crowd.

So Blizzard caved in to them and handed us a worthless zone for 9.2.

Worthless? It’s been pretty great for my gold

The cache is the dump. It rewards cosmetics and materials to craft pets and mounts. It can contain some the very rare materials for mounts like the Unalloyed Bronze Ingot.

It would be nice to see the Cyphers be a bit more, maybe, but I feel like Korthia Research was the extreme other end of things. Somewhere in the middle would be nice.

then the cache needs to contain cool cosmetic stuff more often and way more protoform materials. I think protoform materials are unreasonably rare and cyphers are weirdly use, and we can solve both with a vendor. But making the cache better also works.

They should just let us keep ranking cypher gear up to heroic / mythic ilvl.

In fact no cap, just an exponential increase in cost. Let us push cypher gear to 300+ilvl!
