Blizzard keeps touting about making things “alt friendly”, but only gives the bones of making things alt friendly, instead of giving the actual meat. Making crests and valorstones transferable, especially at the mid point of the patch would be a huge boon in making the game more alt friendly.
As it stands I have hundredes of crests on my main character that I will never use simply due to being maxed out for each type gear wise, aside from 3 ilvl upgrades from niche drops from the raid for gilded. Meaning when the season ends, those crests will be wasted, when I could be using them on my alts to gear them up to bring them up to par to my main at a quicker pace. Along with all the valor stones I am capped with, making them both become a waste at the end of the season.
I understand that adding something like that in from day one isn’t a good idea, and that could also simply be resolved through the crest cap in that once you obtain your capped amount of crests week to week, you can’t gain anymore. Yet I do think we need to make crests and valorstones transferrable between characters, or offer crates that allow you to send crests as you see fit on your account to other characters.
Stones yes, just tax the transfer a bit and it’s fine.
Crests… ehhh.
There’s always gonna be an emphasis on top-end gear being earned on the character doing the thing. Plus crests are getting really really easy to earn in small quantities, that’s why you have so many of the stupid things. The world events + 1 heroic dungeon = 45 hero crests = 15 gilded is a pretty wild exchange rate for doing basically nothing.
I’d still like to see it happen in 11.1.7. Late season treat, just as an experiment on how it goes.
I mean there could be a tax similar to how it works with converting crests from a lower tier to a higher tier. I certainly agree a 1:1 trade isn’t a good idea, yet some trade I think should be tolerable just to ease gearing a bit.
Maybe, but I can also see that getting a ton of flak that Blizz just wants us to grind more keys to give our alts.
I do agree that sitting around with a ton of higher crests with nothing to spend them on feels a bit lame.
Maybe it being added later like you are saying will make it better. I also foresee a lot of high gear/low score alts crashing into keys with 636 crafted gear x7 sent from their main. Maybe that’s fine? I don’t know.
It’s true, and probably why Blizz would never have:
Catalyst charges build for all alts
Sparks build for all alts
Stands buff be account wide
Many skips be account wide
Warband gear and items
Sky riding glyphs account wide
Account wide titles, mounts, achievements, and pets
Incredibly fast gearing leading to a “why not fotm reroll when it takes 2 weeks” mentality as we can instantly watch massive class population swings happen very quickly.
All because Blizz hates alts since they won’t let players farm top end gear for their alt on their main.
No surprise, it’s solely because you can’t shovel mythic track to an alt lol.
No other feature counts for alts, only that you actually have to play your alt for it to get max item level power gear. The horror.
We also are down to a laughable 4 stats lol. Primary stats changing with spec, removal of role specific stats, etc., all I’m sure doesn’t count in your head. (But what about mah trinkets!)
Nobody is going to tell you to reroll since it takes two weeks because crests are made accountwide.
DPS sitting in queue is something you simply have to deal with if you’re not meta. Crests being accountwide or not has nothing to do with non meta dps being picked over lol.
Laughable, but earlier you said:
So is it insignificant or not? Pick one and stop fence sitting lmaooooo
Yes, it does feel a bit lame, but I’m fine with it. Something feeling a “bit lame” isn’t code for “make drastic changes.” I could list another 50 aspects of the game that I feel are a “bit lame” but that doesn’t mean then need a large upheavel to make sure we can funnel end game power to our alts from our mains. My opinion is making it so your best way to gain power on an alt is to not play it is stupid.
The primary stat changing with spec and removal of role specific stats (condensing them to 4) was MASSIVE change to how easy it is to play other specs and alts. Like insanely huge, but people still cry they may need to swap a trinket or weapon maybe depending on the spec change while they keep crying how Blizzard hates alts.
Right I’m all for playing the character, the literal reason why you even make it in the first place. Yet I do agree just being able to farm out BiS items on your main is a bit much, I think my crest idea would be the most balanced, or one of the most balanced options when it comes to alts.
It is funny though how secondary stats best put primary stats for a lot of classes and specs now. Stats in general are a mess.
There has been quite a bit that more alt friendly now. I doubt they will ever let you transfer crests as you could fully gear a character without playing them. You generally have to play that character to gear them up.
Transferring stones makes sense to me. My main always has 2000 and my fresh alts sitting at 0.
I dont think crests should be transferable. You should have to actually play your character to gear it. Otherwise I would be grieving my group if I brought my fresh alt that does half the damage of my main.
Agreed, or simply get rid of them. The only toon I can spend these with faster than they come in is the one I do M+ on. My other toons are flush with them while waiting on crest acquisition.
Crests I never have issues with, valorstones is what I am always lacking. They need to just remove valorstones from crest upgrades, have them be the lowest form of upgrading and then require JUST the crests
I mean given how many sparks we have available currently, you’d quickly get those and then get 8 or 10 ilevel 636 crafted items? I forget what the cap is at this point, but it’s a lot. Technically it wouldn’t be instantly, but it wouldn’t take long to get those sparks.
