Shaman should have ascendance baseline ability. I always see the shuffle like glimmer for paladin whenever something just fits the lore, fantasy or playstyle. Yet for some reason, Ascendance never falls into this.
I’d rather Fire Elemental / Feral Spirits / Spirit Link etc be much stronger than us needing a second big cooldown to be effective. What do you like about Ascendance, and how would you imagine aspects of it being baked into the spec in other ways?
I don’t even like Ascendance, besides surprise blowing plate up in PvP. In PvE, using it and then getting 1 or 2 Stormbringer procs makes it feel like the worst 3 min cooldown in the game, just totally lackluster.
Ascendance is a great cooldown to have if we didnt have to give up something in our last row for it. What are you guys going on about. Great for ranged for Enhancement if the fight needs to move for a mechanic its great for elemental if you just had it to plop yourself for a burst without giving up stormkeeper. Its top notch for Resto.
Ya’ll crazy to think having it wouldnt be better and having that slot filled with something else. Also I dunno wtf Mapex is talking about spirit link baseline on all three specs like this is why noone takes shaman serious. Nerve to come in my thread and just start making it look all stupid and turdish… spirit link baseline… I wanna use this moment to remind people not to smoke drugs.
Well sure, making all of our talents baseline would be awesome so we could put the point in something else. That’s the point of having talents, you have to choose what you want.
For Resto it’s definitely insanely good. For Enhancement though, there were times when I’d use it on a boss and my DPS would stay somewhat level. For a 3 minute CD. Aff and Destro lock have insanely powerful 3 min CDs that feel good to use to boot. All I’m saying is, I’d like it to feel better regardless.
My point is this Raigor, read it twice and try and follow it. I know it gets lost on you and your left to fabricate your own narrative and rambled on about all talents baseline. So I’ll try and say this slower for you.
Ascendance is a good cooldown, but not great enough for it to be a talent. It fits the overall theme and lore of the class so it makes sense.
I do agree with you that talents should be a choice, but I havent choose ascendance as a talent in 4 years of mythic pluses and raiding. Even in legion I was using earthen spike more. Its to iconic to toss a side or never be used. Even rework it abit and give us it Baseline.
I only needed to read it once to disagree with it. It’s only a good cooldown for certain specs, and I’m telling you I always hated it. I don’t even think it’s “iconic”, when did it show up? MoP? You haven’t used it in 4 years, it didn’t arrive on the scene until 2012, so in 16 years of WoW it’s seen use for about 4?
Chain Heal, Totems, Shocks, Windfury, Stormstrike, Elemental Overload. These are iconic.
I understand that you like it, now understand that I don’t. I don’t even think it fits the theme of the class, and I think it’s shoehorned into the lore. I’d rather they make it feel better to use than just toss it to us as baseline.
Your reasoning for taking it out of the talents seems to be “I want to use it but it isn’t good enough to take, so just give it to me”. That doesn’t exactly stand up to scrutiny.
I looked you up and I cant even argue back when I thought for a second you knew anything. But your claim to fame is a basic mythic plus score for season 4. a poor pvp rating, which through me off since you referenced pvp. You’ve killed half the current raid once with terrible parses on heroic.
This is a problem I see alot. People not good at the class trying to be loudest about what they think is best when they are not good at it.
Lmao, my sweet summer child. Are we getting off-topic because you have no actual rebuttal to you wanting this change for no reason other than “I just want it”?
Fine, I’ll address your points. My Heroic parses are from being carried while gearing up an Ele Sham after feeling like I didn’t want to play Lock for the final patch. I think I only had 1 Igneous Potential for those parses, just making due with what I had. I only cleared half of it because I really only wanted/needed a couple things, and it isn’t like it’s riveting content in the first place. My M+ group usually pugs heroics for a hot minute on release, then we ignore them for the rest of the patch. In that timeframe I don’t even attend all of the pugs, on account of having a wife and child.
My PvP rating is definitely poor, but that’s mostly because if we are actually playing, we’ll get maybe 5-10 matches in a week. We haven’t been playing, and our comp is Prot Pally, Assassin Rogue, Enhancement Shaman right now. We pop in for fun, try to blow someone up, and a lot of times it doesn’t work. Who even cares, this is the worst PvP this game has potentially ever seen with corruption, essences, and trinkets being what they are. Last season our comp was Prot Pally, Assasssin Rogue, Affliction Warlock, which did better because I didn’t die near-instantly like I do now. I tool around in BGs with Ascendance, but it always felt like a lackluster CD in PvE for Enhancement.
As for our M+ group, we do 2, maybe 3 dungeons a week, because we’re otherwise busy people. It’s more a reason to get together and hang out than try-harding, otherwise we’d probably have a prot war tank, a DH, and a UH DK or whatever meta is best these days. Who cares though, it’s M+, and you seem to also not care given you do your 15/16 to cap your box and call it a week (I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that you aren’t stuck at 16).
Are you finished with your attempted slights? If so, we can talk Ascendance. If not, I have some questions for you, as besides your Heroic parses likely being padded by being in actual guild runs, your Mythic progress isn’t looking so hot. Also, throwing stones re: PvP when your 3s rating after 187 games is just 1590 yourself? “But my 2s”, grats I guess, but I didn’t think people took 2s seriously.
What I’m saying is, they should make Ascendance feel like a talent worthy of taking for each spec before discarding it as baseline and leaving it lackluster for some specs. You disagree with that? You really enjoy popping a 3 min cooldown on Enh, getting 2 Stormbringer procs, and filling between Windstrikes with Lava Lash or whatever, as your DPS barely climbs, if it does at all? In that case, we disagree.
You edited this post from something significantly more civil to this unnecessary attack, so now I feel the need to clarify the confusion but also assert myself.
I asked you very plainly what you liked about Ascendance. Your response was it fits the lore and I believe you liked the power it gave you.
Thing is, all of our abilities fit the lore, so that’s moot. And each spec already has a major DPS/healing cooldown: to make it crystal clear for you, those cooldowns are Fire Elemental (for Elemental), Feral Spirit (for Enhancement), and Spirit Link Totem (for Restoration).
What I believe is, if those major cooldowns are too weak to be our primary CDs, they should be improved. Giving the specs another burst CD baseline in the form of Ascendance would result in both the existing burst CD AND Ascendance being nerfed to keep our power in check. Then that last talent row would do nothing more than restore the lost power to one of our burst CDs.
Now, if you are arguing for Ascendance to be the burst CD instead of the other three abilities I mentioned, that’s different. But, again for “lore” reasons, Ascendancy is a very new practice and was typically frowned upon as it originally was a permanent transformation, making you a monster of your former self. Fire Elemental, Feral Spirit, and Spirit Link Totem as the burst CDs for the three specs are substantially more iconic and lore-friendly, focusing on the Shaman’s ability to call on the elements and spirits for aid as opposed to morphing into an elemental entity themselves.
now this is what we should be fighting for, not some damn 2 hand weapon. Ascendance should def be baseline
Im for shaman, team blue all day. Im always looking to make this class better then what is it. Mapex, I edited my post because I didnt wanna be mean, not the other way around. It was never civil, cause on the forums your the bottom feeder to me. Your the lfr raider who does no actual content on the class but is on every post giving an opinion on something you dont invest time or effort into. Your a bottom feeder on the forums and I was just trying to be nice.
Ascendance would be a great Cooldown to be baseline, for all 3 specs. It would even help enh on high movement fights ei wrathion to get afew more hits in(one example). You dont do anything so I dont expect you to see any point.
If that’s all it’s good for, it should be a 1 min cooldown.
Imo Ascendance shouldn’t just be baseline, but worked into the class. Let the class be cooldown based as it seems to be, but add maelstrom back as resource that slowly, passively builds over time in a fight. At 100% maelstrom, you go Ascendance form. Adds the best part of Legion shaman/enhance via those legendary gloves, while also keeping a bridge between the two difference designs the class has had over the years.
Sure but please let us change the appearance. I cant stand the current look.
Give us glyphs that allow us to retain our normal look, but with elemental whirls around us, or something like that.
Ascendance was baseline in Draenor and it was amazing. I believe it was even a 2 minute cd. They even had a glyph for it by the end of the expac that was removed when Ascendance became a talent. I would love if they gave ancestral guidance back as a talent to compliment it for healing. And resto having primal elemental back with the ability to actually summon a fire ele again. Man. Draenor was so good for resto.
The only reason I’ll even consider Ascendance now is because Ele is getting back SWG. Just not a fan of it as a major CD at all.
imagine saying ascendance shouldnt be baseline when it used to be baseline
Right?! A lot of abilities went from baseline to talents or just removed all together. And yet when I saw all the news about “We’re un-pruning your abilities” and the presentation includes totems that we got back.
Not here talking about what they want improved or stuff. Maybe Healing Stream could be reworked to be group-wide leech, Searing Totem gets Skyfury Crit% baked in, or Grounding Totem the OG Classic stick of magical redirection gets returned baseline?
Nah man, we have fellow shammies that are into seeing previously baseline abilities not be baseline.
Imagine using a previous version of the game as a crutch to justify something you want.
Ascendance could be baseline, but where exactly is the line between talent and baseline? Should Sundering be baseline? Forceful Winds? Landslide?
Is there a better reason to make this baseline than “because I like it”?
