The dueling community is large but lacks an area to facilitate it.
I propose :
Talk to an NPC in any major city to teleport to the Dueling Grounds. Cds reset after duels end and Horde and Alliance can neutrally duel each other. Purely for fun and testing out Runes and Specs, and discover what builds you like without having to queue for a BG or run around in open world looking for pvp.
Iām sorry to inform you, but there are much higher priorities that they also wonāt do. They are cutting corners as much as they possibly can.
For example, priest had a bug with Homunculus where you could use it to sic the Booty Bay guards on your attack target and up to 3 people around them. Rather than fix the bugged ability, they simply made the ability not castable in Booty Bay.
No one said it was a priority. I donāt care about some cheesy priest bug either. The forums are a place for suggestions and my suggestion is one that a lot of people want. Sorry to inform you.
Dueling can be fun, but itās not balanced. If Blizzard had ever intended to balance the game around 1v1 dueling, we would most like have had 1v1 ranked arena matches long, long ago.
Having said that, the dueling community driven events are pretty cool, and usually have a bunch of rules in an attempt to make it balanced. Iām not sure if WoW Classic (whether SoD or not) is really the place for 1v1s to happen.
Seems like it would require quite a lot of development attention and effort for a short lived season, but who knows, maybe this is precisely the right sort of practice ground for such a thing.
it is not about being balanced and there is no reward for it. Itās for fun and testing out builds in a place where everyone else is doing the exact same thing. This creates an atmosphere where pvpers get to know each other and people make friends, you know the thing gaming is all about? much like the old days of wow in durotar and goldshire, people developed relationships out of duels and also sharpened their skills. it is a 100% 360 degree win for everyone.
No. Not even close lol. Absolutely no one is flying out to Tanaris or going to Gurubashi where it is a pure free for all. That is not what I am talking about. I am talking about a convenient NPC, much like the one Horde has in BB to teleport to Gnomer. Itās that simple.
It is called season of discovery but we have to pay for talent changes and canāt do it anywhere/anytime, this is really lame and not conducive to discovering anything. SoD is literally supposed to be the place for thisā¦
A dueling Pit would be an interesting concept, especially if it reset Cdās/did NOT USE SOULSHARDS to allow for chain dueling. It would honestly bring in alot of people as participants and maybe spectators. Would be a better concept on retail though and not SOD the way it is. They wont add training dummies so I cant imagine this happening.
Some people seem to have their own interpretations of what SoD supposed to be about, but afaik, what the devs said is that itās about rediscovering the classic world of Azeroth.
I think dueling, and more specifically 3v3 arenas are a lot of fun, but itās also instanced lobby-game style play. We have Raids, Instance Dungeons, and Battlegrounds already. SoD has introduced STV Bloodmoon, a new World PVP event, which in my opinion at least, is pretty inline with a Classic world feel (though some have complained that it overshadows the entire zone that was once an iconic WPVP zone to begin with).
Anyway, Iām not personally against your ideaā¦ Iād kind of like to see some sort of Arena dressing room type thing, and Iād also like to be able to play my Classic SoD character in Wrath or Retail Arenas somehow.
We have 1 raid. No one does dungeons after reaching level 40 unless they are farming blues or boosting players.
STV āpvpā event (lol) is a laggy, order-less, 1 shot fest that doesnāt provide fulfilling pvp engagements like a duel area or arenas would. You run around dead to res and die again. Lazy, boring, unfun.
How about listening to their player base and making changes instead of ghosting us after the phase comes out?
I guess you have your own take, but from my point of view, itās a heck of a lot more fun than BGs, itās much more intense than 5s without the queue times, and itās incredibly fun, but I play a warrior and warriors have pretty amazing toolkits in SoD right now.
A lot of WoW Classic is what you make of it, I guess.
I sure hope they donāt listen to most of the ideas. Isnāt that exactly what Retail is?
People who are just complaining might make up a portion of the playerbase, but it doesnāt take much of a thought experiment to come up with some pretty good ideas why you might want to avoid catering to complainers.
Have you tried casting them from the end of the ledge to the boat?
I know you can mount there because itās āoutsideā maybe hormunc can be used in the same spot.
You need to learn how to read, because I didnāt say that. Snipy was quoting himself. Maybe take the time to properly read instead of trying to make gotcha posts that arenāt accurate at all.
Yeah retail is a way more balanced game pvp wise and the devs regularly communicate their updates to the player base in blue posts. Usually once every week or two. SoD has been abandoned because it is a hollow cash grab.
How is lagging for 30 minutes fun? How is STV in any way comparable to a close Arathi Basin or Warsong Gulch? The levels of competition are completely different. STV is what PvE players like because they can run around and Aoe everything and turn off their brain. That isnāt PVP lol. Arathi Basin has excellent skirmish potential and team fighting that STV will never have. STV is made for casual players. Which is fine but donāt compare it to Battlegrounds, where thereās actually a structure and objective not āduhuh run to loa spam aoe die run backā sorry that is not peak pvp by a long shot. Players like you who defend it lower the standard. You should demand more for your money if you value it.
People are complaining because they are getting ripped offā¦ Iām catering to the veterans like myself who want more out of a game with a limitless potential but horrible decision making so far. They said they would listen multiple times and yet they ghost us after the phase drops. There are people like myself who know how bad the state of the game is and arenāt content with it. I also give solutions to every problem I identify. Anyway I donāt care about STV, I suggested a Dueling area because it would be fun and could be implemented overnight. That is all that matters.
Says who? I have great duels all the time with pretty much any class. I have personally gotten better from duels because you learn how new abilities work best that way.
Please give me an example of how duels are in āthe worst stateā sounds like a nonsense take.
