Noticed that with Earthquake for Elemental shamans, the node for it has two options. The ability is the same for both, the only difference is choosing if you want to manually using the mouse or automatically applying the AOE on your current target.
This would be fantastic option for all class AOEs (Blizzard, Rain of Fire, Final Reckoning, etc) with the exception of hunter traps. Having the node choice between manually choosing where to place it and just having it cast right on your current target makes the ability so much better.
The only thing better would just being able to set it one way or the other without having to pick a node such as how Swtor does it with either a single click/press for choosing where to place it and a double click/press to cast on current target.
Still the way Earthquake is done is still much better than being restricted to just placing using the mouse and all AOEs but hunter traps should have this setup as well.

It would be a nice QoL. Don’t know why they haven’t done it for other classes place-able AoE’s

i wish we didnt have to spend a point on it. In swtor, all their targetable AoEs can be double clicked to cast on target.

Shaman don’t. Earthquake is one of the early “talents” you have to take no matter what because there aren’t other options. You’re just choosing which version you want.
BTW, the one that casts on the target is bad. It doesn’t STICK to the target, just casts on it, so you can easily cast it on the edge of a pack and not hit the whole group, or use it while moving and then its in the middle of nothing. The ground targeted version is superior because you can control exactly what’s going to be in it.

The targeted one does have its advantages that’s why I like the idea of giving players a choice.
Swtor does it perfectly where you click the ability once and defaults to the choose the target area but if you double click the casts on your current target.
Since they give you a choice via the node that is an improvement I’d like to see all AOEs get but hunter traps. Doing it via the ability directly like Swtor would be better but still happy with the current method. Just got to make sure your target is the center mob so it hits as many as possible.
Was it not the whole reason they even disabled the macro for it cause hunters in BGs was doing some diabolic stuff with traps xD
All they need to do is enable the macro again but disable it for BGs…
Yes that was the main reason it was disabled. They should either just disable it for BGs and Arenas or simply set a flag or something that prevents hunter traps from using it.
I especially love it when I use my superior control to cast it on a tiny branch on the ceiling of the dungeon.

God, Flamestrike with @target would be so damn good.
go back and read what they say about it. you will see that this is an experiment and if it works other spells will be changed

Tried to find a link for this but couldn’t when I was originally Googling for it. Do you have a link for that?
I think they should just make @target an allowed modifier for all AOE cast macros.
I feel it’s better to just incorporate It into the ability directly instead. Either as a node choice like how Earthquake works or by using single click for targeted AOE and double click for @target aoe.
