I think WoW could benefit from releasing arena as a standalone game. I know many people would hate that and so would blizz’s marketing, but SO many people quit because of the required time investment, AND sheer amount of learning requeired to function at the same level as your average peer.
Just make a game that has characters, specs, trees, even gear, but there’s no grind. You just jump into ranked pvp.
Warcraft: Field of Battle, Warcraft: Gladiator, Warcraft: Leeroy Jenkins. You get the idea.

There likely wouldn’t be enough interest, no, and it’d siphon the few arena players away from the main game.

there are more players who pvp that do other content then there are pvpers who only pvp.
no i like being connected to the main game. i wouldn’t consider this to be worth it. a lot of my friends only pve.
On the flip side, it could also bring in those that don’t want anything to do with the mmo aspect of it or grinding for gear and questing for crafted stuff.

You can usually buy almost all the reagents from the auction house for a few hundred gold.
They wouldnt need to make a entirely new game though. Just make a “tournament” realm for different regions so people have decent connections to the servers and make them instant max level. Taking out the gearing part though will kill the lower bracket in arenas.

leveling and a ton of other stuff still blows
this is the only way wow could ever cultivate a playerbase that cares more about pvp gameplay than reward accessibility

nah man
its an MMO
didnt u know theres a universal rule written by god himself(herself?) that syas ALL MMOS MUST BE GRINDY!
There already is one: Ring of Titans
Its just like WoW arena
Didn’t we just do this in another thread like yesterday?
I have said this for years. It would maybe attract a huge wave of younger players that aren’t typically interested in MMOs. Let’s face it MMOs are definitely for an older generation of gamer. Just download the game, pick your class/spec/gear on a character and save it for future access and GG. The game no longer needs to be a full time job to compete at a high level.
People legit underestimated how unpopular WOW pvp is. Standalone wow pvp would be deader than Heroes of the Storm.
The investment is an issue for some including myself for sure.
I stopped playing back in February to take a break for IRL. Friends decided to stop a month later.
I subbed recently to try it out and maybe reroll and gear up a new character. Well its been 3 days and quite honestly I’m just not feeling it. Leveling a new character, gearing up, doing the campaign requirements, getting familiar with the new UI and Arena setup is just too much for me atleast right now.
Maybe its not as bad as previous expansions, but the entry after taking a break or starting up on a new character or alt is just not worth it. It felt better at launch a new experience and all, but I think I’m tapping out. Maybe I’ll try toward the end of the xpac in a later season.
Anyways my 2 cents.
