Major (random and frequent) lag spikes

Hi! I’ve been experience enormous lag spikes over the past week. No other internet services have issues for me (streaming videos, other online games, downloads, etc). My connection is about 900mbps, so it’s not a bandwidth problem. This has only been going on for about two weeks.

I ran the WinMTR (below) on the central server. I have restarted my router.

Any ideas on how to fix? Nothing worse than getting a huge lag spike that corrects itself right after Combustion ends!

I live in Orange County, USA and ever since this morning I’ve been experiencing insane Lag spikes. Even though WoW was the only app with crazy latency I’ve restarted modem/router/PC. I’m on a 250mb/sec connection with 12 ping averaged by 3 different speed testing websites. Everything else works fine except for WoW where everything from killing mobs to checking mail, getting on mount, AH etc has huge lag spikes.

Is anyone on this?

Did you catch a lag spike or disconnect in this winMTR?

We really need to see one where the connection is impacted.

This test looks fine - which doesn’t help.

I’ll take a look when I have a chance to log in later this evening.

Note that I haven’t been disconnecting, rather I’ve been getting about 3-5 major spikes in latency/lag.

Also do you have windows update KB4535996 installed? It seems to be causing what you are describing.

And this right here is one of the issues why no one wants to upgrade to Win10, nothing works. Just one problem after another.

On topic, been having some pretty bad lag spikes myself, also booted me during a vision run that I was almost finished with and lost everything because it kicked me out of the vision. Thanks, blizz, that makes sense.

I too am not only having lag issues, but dc issues as well. They have been going on since this morning. However, I do not see update KB4535996 among the recent Windows updates on my PC. Last Windows update was Thursday evening for me. My home latency seems perfectly fine, but my world latency is a different story.

Edit - Think it might of been a Windows issue after all? Like I said, I did an update on Thursday. I didn’t have issues Friday, but Saturday was a whole different story. I saw that there was another Windows update waiting in the wings, after downloading it and restarting the disconnects stopped. If the issue does return, I will start a new thread with a winMTR test.

Then post the winMTR that is the standard diagnostic, in a new thread.
