already tried clearing cache, interface and WTf, doing scan repair etc

since the issue is only with wow server, not sure what else to do. anyone else facing same connecting to US servers from outside US

South America, mainly Brazil? Maybe Bolivia.
Especially if on Claro?

Im on NA and having the same issue since the new patch. MS over 1k

I’ve tried renaming the interface and wtf folders, deleting the cache folder, scanning and repairing wow, removing all addons, re-installing all addons, checking for pc updates, updating all drivers, restarted router, cleared dns cache, have also tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling on my ssd c:drive, no luck on any of that.

No issues doing anything else or playing other games, its only wow thats giving me this problem, and its never happened until recently.

NA here. Also having huge latency spikes of 25k since new patch. I’ve turned off all my addons and still having the issue. Can play Diablo 4 with 0 issues but when I try to play wow my latency is through the roof.

NA here, also having issues since last patch, especially the last two days. Latency spikes out of nowhere, then my character stops interacting with the world, and before I know it, disconnected. Game also feels very laggy in general. No issues with other games.

This is absolute bullcrap

Everytime I log in, everything is well, for around 30seconds, then my latency gets worse and worse. Funny enough, if I fight a mob, my abilities won’t go off but the mobs hit me normally, no delays, they don’t stay in front of me doing nothing. Instead they smash my face with normal attack speed. Wtf is happening.

After 1 min I get dc, takes a while to log back in, and the cycle repeats.

I’m seeing what sounds like the exact same issue from Japan.

I’ve been playing WoW on US/OCE servers from Japan for over 10 years, including Hardcore, and I’ve never experienced anything like this until earlier this week.

My latency suddenly spikes into the thousands, I get constant disconnects, and Hardcore is basically unplayable. My internet connection is stable, and every other game and service works perfectly.

I’ve already tried:

  • Reinstalling the game

  • Running Scan & Repair

  • Playing with zero addons

  • Restarting my PC and router

None of it made a difference.

What’s interesting is that I can log into the Oceanic retail servers and they’re amazingly smooth with no latency or disconnect issues at all. The problem seems to be specific to connecting to the US Classic/Hardcore servers.

I actually made another thread about this because I was starting to think I was the only one. Seeing your post makes me wonder if this is affecting players connecting to US servers from overseas rather than being an issue on our end.

Hopefully Blizzard takes a look if more people are reporting the same thing. I kinda wish we would get a free day or two added to our subs. https://pastebin.com/mwjWF7jW

Same issue-
Though I’m in the EU playing on US servers.

Everything is fine for maybe 4-5 minutes, then boom- World latency jumps to 700, 1023, 2174-
I never get actually disconnected though, instead I get shoved into the shadow realm of never ending casts, though I see everything and everyone else moving around me perfectly like nothing is wrong.
I’m forced to ALT+F4 and relaunch, where the cycle repeats. Fine for 5 minutes, 10 if I’m lucky, before the connection drops again.

Whether I’m sitting in Stormwind, running a dungeon or in a raid, doesn’t matter.
It’s beyond ridiculous at this point, losing play time I’m paying for and getting no compensation or apology.

A gaming studio isn’t responsible for how you reach the Google datacenters where the game is hosted. And back when Blizz had tech support staff, they would tell you playing on servers outside your region is a personal choice and didn’t qualify for official troubleshooting.

If I’m paying a subscription to play their game, regardless the server choice, it’s their responsibility to at least look into issues. I’ve played on US servers for over 7 years without problems until Midnight launched.
This isn’t an issue with my connection, other games work perfectly fine, even when connecting to friends in the US or playing other games on US servers.

The node having issues belongs to Blizzard, which means its their direct responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance or to at least investigate any issues raised and- since this is also happening to people not in the EU, solidifies that this isn’t a minor issue limited to one person because they chose a different region.

I’m not expecting personal help, I’m adding my voice to the thread to try raise this issue to Blizzard themselves because rarely does any help come from MVP posts.

That can’t happen because Blizzard employees do not monitor this subforum for feedback.

You’re shouting at clouds.

Post in Bug Reports or General Discussion.

They look at them on occasion and note issues that seem popular or widespread. They just don’t usually respond to them.
Any amount of ā€˜hot discussion’ gets at least a glance, so thank you for posting.

Nope, they’ve never been responsible for looking into connection issues or lag. When they had a tech support team, they offered that troubleshooting on a courtesy basis, but it wasn’t guaranteed. And since that team was disbanded 2.5 years ago, so was the courtesy support.

Are you running ping tests to server IPs you found on Google? Most nodes with ā€œblizzardā€ in the hostname are labeled that way by ISPs and/or routing peers. Second, those nodes don’t fully respond to ICMP requests, which is what ping tests use.

Well, this forum only has fellow players and MVPs in it. You were notified about what to expect at this stage of Blizzard’s support system. Additionally, you were informed that ICMP tests aren’t useful for troubleshooting. I’d call that help.

Edit:

The discussion forums and bug reports. Threads you see in here with blue responses usually originated in another forum and were moved here.

All you’ve done so far is blame my ISP, my region choice, state the obvious that Blizzard support is gone for connection issues and tear apart every single thing in my replies without actually addressing any ways for me to fix or approach the issue.
That’s not really being helpful, that’s just being critical for no reason and a bit degrading.
(To be serious for a moment, I really don’t appreciate your approach so far.)
[If you genuinely don’t have anything helpful, as in actually helpful for me to try and fix the issue- please stop harassing me or just telling me to post elsewhere. I’m here in the hopes someone who’s figured out the problem will post.]

I’ve been using the resource monitor, with World of Warcraft as tracked and noted that connection issues usually happen when the connection goes/comes from the data centre in Amsterdam that uses Blizzards name specifically.
That’s all the information I have. If I knew more, I’d be diagnosing it myself, but I don’t. That’s why I’m here, to get help, not have jargon shoved at me.

Edit: Really…?

I will re-state;
I’m here in the hopes someone who’s figured out the problem will post.
Anyone who HAS tried to figure out and Google the problem will know the term ā€˜node’.

Obviously I’m going to be frustrated if I can’t play a game I’m spending money to play so I apologise for that- but criticising me and berating me for lack of knowledge or my anger is not the correct way to go about helping.

I actually did apologise for my behaviour and was flagged for it??? ^

Edit 2: Reincluding important information that was requested that was also removed for ā€œtrollingā€. I’m literally here to get help, I can’t help it if no-one here has the answers, I’m just here waiting for someone that does have them.

My ISP is ConnectFibre.
I’m trying US servers- specifically Wyrmrest or Moonguard.
I’ve tried a VPN- I don’t want to keep paying for it. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t. Surely the fact the VPN doesn’t always help indicates there is a problem?
I’ve already contacted my ISP, I’ve had them send a new cable, check everything their side. They just said they don’t control the routing of anything.

If you’re using geolocation on the IP address, that doesn’t indicate where the server is. It indicates where the corporation that registered the IP is/was.
Over the years people have tried to blame the Amsterdam hop for their latency, but it doesn’t mean anything.

What you don’t seem to get is there is no help anyone here can give you.
If your ISP’s route is bad, you need to go to your ISP.

You haven’t listed your ISP or the servers you are trying to play on.
You haven’t said if you’ve tried a VPN.

So, if you actually want help, you need to provide information that can lead to troubleshooting. Right now you just come off as a toddler in a temper tantrum.

You’re making things up here. I didn’t place any blame on your ISP at all; I said Blizzard isn’t responsible for how you connect. There are usually several companies between your house and the Google datacenters in Chicago Las Vegas.

In your case, there’s an ISP, a local routing peer, possibly a country-level routing peer, an undersea submarine cable, stateside routing peers that your ISP has contracts with, and then you reach the server. Unfortunately, the contact point for all those companies, as a customer, is your ISP.

Until this last reply, you didn’t ask for any assistance. You posted ping values and complaints that Blizzard isn’t compensating your account or apologizing to you for connection problems you’ve encountered.

If you’re disconnecting, your options are to try another network (like a hotspot or VPN), or consult with your ISP. This has been recommended hundreds of times already throughout the forum, and generally, people bite our heads off if we suggest it again. There are also connection troubleshooting steps on the public support site.

Really? The only personal thing I’ve touched on is server choice, but those weren’t even my words; I was relaying Blizzard’s troubleshooting stance from back when they had a tech support team. All that’s happening here is: You’re getting responses in a public forum, where anyone with a game license for WoW can create posts and/or replies.

Again, really? No one is ā€œshovingā€ jargon at you.

You kind of opened the door to jargon when you blamed the node, implying you knew something about how to track down an issue like this. That said, you can easily Google ICMP to understand what it is.

Edit:

An excellent point!

Edit 2: It was clarified that the server they are attempting to play on from the EU is based in Las Vegas (which would be even higher ping than Chicago), so I corrected the opening paragraph to include that info.

Edit 3: Hit Save twice.

Just logged, there was a huge delay on the loading screen, none of the crafting tables are clickable, and I’m rocking 2500 latency right off the rip. Just ran an internet speed test, and I’m running as fast as can be, so it’s not my internet connection or computer, it’s the game.

Speed tests do not, unfortunately, help diagnose a routing issue. It might if you are trying to download videos across different devices in the house, but when it comes to game data, the packets are not large and require very little speed to send back and forth. Especially if you are speed testing to local ISP test points.

Just again, speed does not equal less latency.

Regardless, the problem was on Blizz’s end, per usual.
