Blizz has their people get up in the middle of the night to do maintenance . Then when the players get on to play they go home and go to sleep. Then if any problems come up during the day that need say a rolling restart hot fix we just suck it up until they come back for their next middle of the night shift.
Or option 2 they stay on their current schedule where it affects the least amount of players and can be there if any issues arise while we are playing and take care of them.
âTo be fairâ the game has had the same maintenance schedule for the last 16 years. After that amount of time, people can plan around not playing on Tuesday mornings.
You could have probably phrased the question better, called less people trolls, and not bragged about âhow much money you makeâ compared to others; that might have helped.
If working overnight shifts was the norm, more businesses would be open during the night than the day. Banks would have tellers 24/7 or during later hours, restaurants would be busier at midnight than at noon, department stores would be open from 9 PM to 9 AM instead of the other way around.
But thatâs not how it is. Your experience as someone who works overnight hours is one that differs from the norm. Iâve worked overnights and graveyards myself many times, and it does change your perceptions of when to do things, certainly, as you get used to it.
But at no point did I suddenly expect my local grocery store to have a full complement of staff members available overnight. Heck, I worked at a grocery store overnight. We did the stocking at that time because although the store itself was open 24/7, nobody was actually there.
Fixed that for you. Hereâs where youâre going wrong, chum. You are insinuating that âpeopleâ collectively sleep at the same time you do, so itâs best that Blizzard schedules their maintenance times around, specifically, your sleep schedule.
Thatâs not fair to their employees, people in other parts of the world, or a lot of other folks. Your own personal timings, schedule, and perceptions are not all-encompassing. They have to do the maintenance sometime, and regardless of when that is, someone will have part of their playtime interrupted. Itâs just the nature of the beast.
I know itâs apparently very hard to put yourself in someone elseâs shoes and realize that there might be other people in the world with schedules, preferences, feelings and lives to live separately from your gaming timeframes, sorry if it comes as a shock that youâre not the bright center of the universe. I know it was pretty rough for me and others back in preschool when we came to that conclusion.
While I know BDO is a joke to many. Iâve always loved how they do their maintenance from 4am to 8am(est) and 1am to 5am(pst). Its when most of the US is asleep and its not like its KR servers doing maintenance, its the US version of BDO doing it. Iâm not sure what Blizz has to do for maintenance but when I see another game do it at these times you have to wonder.
It should only happen maybe once a month or year now, but they do this weekly to save on payroll and utilities. Most things can be done via rolling restarts and hotfix patches. The only time the servers should ever come down is to clean the server rack hardware.
I wish they didnât do maintenance on election day. I voted weeks ago, but I need something like wow to keep me distracted until tomorrow when the results are in (hopefully).
1: Count flowers on the wall (doesnât seem to bother me at all)
2: Play solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51
3: Smoke cigarettes
4 : Watch Captain Kangaroo
Now no one can tell me I have nothing to do while I wait.
