Maintenance Sandbox

I don’t know much about how taking servers down works and what is involved, but I am one of those people that spend a lot of time tweaking their ui (maybe 15-20% of my /played).

During server maintenance I’ve always found myself wishing I could have access to my character(s) in something like the “white training room of endless nothingness” as seen in The Matrix or Dragonball Z.

Would it be incredibly hard/expensive/involving for them to create a “sandbox” server which is basically just one of the training dummy rooms (I vote Zuldazaar) with the entry/exit doors blocked off? It would only go up during server downtime/outages and would work on the same patch that the game ran when the servers went down.

It would give people like me a LOT more uptime and would massively mitigate the misfortune of having nothing going on on an extended maintenance day.

so you want i room with everyone in it and some training dummies that only comes online when servers are down for maintenance but you want it to have the current patch that is being maitnenced on? got it

The current iteration of the game will be getting taken down and replaced with the updated version on official servers, no? During this process, just have another server with the same old patch up. The patch they are releasing already exists, they are just implementing it. There is no “current patch being “maitnenced” on”. It gets removed and replaced.

Would it be crowded? Sure! There would be the issue of figuring out exactly how popular something like this would be and dialing in the allocation of necessary resources in order to possibly create multiple sandbox servers.
